Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Our domain provides rewarding work that contributes to the latest advancements being made in the industry. The position is located on-site in Boulder, CO. Boulder is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown Denver.



The selected Systems Engineer will support the BOA program as an individual contributor on the Systems Engineering team. In this role, you will develop systems engineering products that directly support the design, development, and scaling of BOA software capabilities.



  • Technical Planning: Lead technical planning, support design reviews, and manage tools to communicate and track action items internally and with customers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Integrated Product Team (IPT) counterparts, technical teams, and stakeholders to mature systems architecture content for large program designs.
  • Design Readiness: Conduct pre-review assessments to ensure system readiness prior to formal design reviews.
  • Agile Software Modeling: Create conceptual data models, data flows, and architectural views specifically tailored for software systems and software system-of-systems.
  • Requirements Ownership: Manage the end-to-end requirements lifecycle, including decomposition, allocation, verification, validation, and cross-compatibility reviews for system modifications.
  • Technical Mentorship: Coach and mentor engineering team members on developing requirements, architecture, design, and SysML implementation.
  • Model Integration: Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes to optimize tool integration, configuration management, and multi-team collaboration.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience; a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience; or a PhD with 4 years of related experience.
  • : 4+ years of experience leading requirements engineering, thread-based system decomposition, allocation, and analysis, with hands-on experience utilizing IBM DOORS for requirements traceability and management.
  • Proven experience applying systems engineering and modeling practices to software architectures, software environments, or agile software frameworks.
  • Applicants must possess an active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret (or higher) clearance at the time of application and is required to start. With a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or current enrollment in Continuous Evaluation (CE).




  • 4+ years of experience utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering tools (specifically Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or IBM Rhapsody) to architect complex systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in SysML-based modeling, including the development of DoDAF view artifacts (specifically Operational and Functional viewpoints).
  • Expertise documenting complex system interactions via Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Requirement Specifications (IRS), and Interface Description Documents (IDD).
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Systems Engineering Methodology (OOSEM), systems thinking, and Modeling & Simulation techniques.
  • Applied knowledge of Next-Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared Radar (NG-OPIR) or similar space/ground segment defense systems.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a track record of presenting technical concepts to senior management, cross-functional teams, and customer communities.


Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
