Job Description
We want you to be an integral part of an innovative, creative, and energetic group of team members supporting a government client. Steampunk is looking for a Digital Forensics Analyst to support one of our federal customers. The Digital Forensics Analyst will work in a dynamic lab that provides support for law enforcement efforts. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who is interested in learning the latest technology and has a proven ability to learn quickly and apply training to solve real world engineering problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support data collection: Securely seizing, imaging, and extraction digital devices for the purpose of preserving evidence.
- Provides on-scene digital forensics support and assistance during the execution of search warrants.
- Perform acquisitions and examinations using forensic tools.
- Using specialized tools (e.g., Cellebrite, Magnet Forensics) to examine data, including but not limited to deleted files, emails, passwords, and multimedia.
- Supports investigations and work closely with investigators, other law enforcement organizations, and attorneys in investigating allegations of criminal and administrative misconduct.
- Transform complex digital evidence into clear, actionable findings that help investigators make informed decisions.
- Document forensic methodologies, investigative findings, and technical conclusions in detailed reports for investigated purpose and legal proceedings.
- Serves as subject matter expert on technical matters relating to digital evidence.
- Testify in court as an expert witness in the area of digital forensics.
- Maintaining forensic equipment and tools
- Ensure forensic processes comply with legal, regulatory, and evidentiary standards .
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
- Minimum of Five (5) years of experience in digital forensics OR
- Associate's Degree, with a preference of Bachelor's degree, or higher, in an IT-related field.
- 3 days a week onsite required, potential travel as needed
- Strong customer service skills, teaming skills, and the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team.
- Computer forensics training experience.
- Ability to research and resolve problems efficiently and accurately. ·
- Documentation skills, including forensics note keeping, reports, and case management.
- Proactive approach to identifying issues, developing solutions, and providing investigation updates to investigators and management.
Preferred:
- Ability to maintain workload in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
- Experience working in law enforcement.
Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $100,000 to $145,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
