NURSE (OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH)

• Plans, develops, organizes and manages a comprehensive Occupational Health services program.
• Develop new processes based on ever changing regulations that are broad in nature and requiring considerable knowledge for accurate interpretation.
• Develops clinical protocols and technical procedures in support of occupational health programs for compliance with higher-level policies.
• Identify Occupational Health Program goals through interdisciplinary collaboration with industrial hygienist, safety managers, physicians and supported commands.
• Collaborates with regional occupational health program manager to ensure programs are current, appropriate and meet legal requirements.
• Reviews and evaluates program operations and recommends or implements changes in internal procedures and policies, as required, to meet workload demands and to promote a more efficient and effective workflow.
• Serves as the technical expert and resource for managers, assigned and guest health care providers and employees regarding occupational health issues.
• Develops health care and preventative services for employees, including guidance in healthy lifestyles, programs on wellness, medical surveillance and physical requirements..

• This position is requires Civilian Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random employee drug testing.
• Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• A favorable Tier 3 background investigation is required for all Non-Critical Sensitive (NCS) positions with access to network systems and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
• The incumbent may be required to work outside of established normal working hours as necessary to meet mission requirements.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Professional Nursing Experience: One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes providing nursing assessment, diagnosis and treatment and nursing care of occupational injuries and illnesses; Assisting provider with appropriate pre-employment, pre-placement, periodic and termination physical examinations; Planning, coordinating, and carrying out the full range of Occupational Health program duties. This definition of professional nursing experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level.
