Job Description
Responsibilities:
Participating in the design and creation of virtual solid models of new products, modifications and upgrades to existing designs, from detailed component design to full assembly.
Interface as necessary with Engineering to document and detail design requirements, specifications and schedules, and design for manufacturability, reliability and maintainability applying MIL-SPEC, FAA and best commercial practices.
Create 3-D CAD models for individual components, systems and assemblies, while generating tolerance stack up analysis, mass properties, etc., on component assemblies to ensure proper fit and function.
Participate in multi-disciplinary, integrated project teams, representing the Design Group for team activities and decisions.
Effectively communicate progress on projects to management, while ensuring that all work is done in compliance with Quality Requirements, AS9100, company policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
MUST HAVES:
8+ years’ design experience in the aviation industry
Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PowerPoint, Excel and/or other MS applications
Potential travel to CONUS (Continental US) and OCONUS (Outside Continental US) locations (Alaska, Hawaii, UK and EUROPE)
Must be able to work outside and on top of aircraft.
Preferred:
Desigen experience in aviation structural assembly
Experience in aerospace engineering design in both Military and Civil aviation
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and test instrumentation
A&P qualified
CNC programming experience
