Job Description



  • Provides leadership to subordinates and technical guidance to executive/management level representatives from the Military Services, DCMA, and other Government Agencies.
  • This position is the Deputy to the director of a large, complex Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) field activity which administers contracts on a geographic basis
  • Ensures that operations are accomplished within DCMA guidelines.
  • Makes adjustments to accommodate changes in program objectives
  • Advises key managers of important contract management issues and directs action to identify and resolve critical administrative or technical problems
  • Continually scrutinizes activity operations, reviewing and assessing program and milestone status, reports of program reviews, and DCMA operational recommendations.
  • Represents the organization in consultations with key officials concerning technical elements of contract management, contract funding, policies, and legislation
  • Reviews programs to establish or reassess goals, to identify impediments, and to determine needs for changes in direction
  • Performs the full range of managerial personnel functions.





  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Security Requirements: Non-critical sensitive with Secret access

To qualify for a Contract Management Deputy, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in, or related to, this position. To qualify for the NH-04 level, specialized experience must be at the NH-03 or GS-13 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.
Creditable specialized experience includes:
  • Experience in contract management procedures, laws, and regulations
  • Experience in establishing procedures to direct contract management operations
  • Experience in contract negotiation
  • Experience directing subordinates who manage critical contracts
  • Experience directing the operations of a large, complex organization.




Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
