Systems Engineer

IFICS Data Terminal | Ground-Based Midcourse Defense

Full-Time with an Employee Owned and Best Places to Work Contractor

Onsite in Huntsville, AL | Schedule: 9x80

We are hiring a Systems Engineer - IFICS Data Terminal (IDT) to support the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This onsite role focuses on systems engineering, hardware and software integration, requirements management, MBSE, DOORS, Cameo, Agile development, and systems verification to support mission-critical ballistic missile defense capabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the IFICS Data Terminal (IDT) product team for the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS).
  • Perform systems engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle, including requirements decomposition, system architecture, design, integration, verification, validation, and testing.
  • Develop hardware and software interface definitions for complex defense systems.
  • Support mechanical and electrical hardware design, interface development, testing, and hardware fault analysis.
  • Perform technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation (V&V), supportability analysis, risk analysis, and cost analysis.
  • Translate customer and system requirements into complete hardware and software solutions while balancing technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Conduct functional analysis, trade studies, timeline analysis, requirements allocation, and interface definition activities.
  • Develop and maintain system requirements using IBM DOORS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams in an Agile development environment utilizing Jira and Confluence.
  • Support continuous system integration and product development activities for Missile Defense Agency programs.


Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Active Secret Clearance required
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or related STEM discipline.
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of related systems engineering experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with systems engineering processes, including requirements decomposition, systems design, integration, verification, validation, and interface definition.
  • Experience with hardware-to-software interfaces, hardware design (mechanical and electrical), hardware interfaces, testing, and hardware fault analysis.
  • Experience performing technical planning, supportability analysis, cost analysis, risk analysis, and total system engineering activities.
  • Experience translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Proficiency using IBM DOORS for requirements management.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Agile development best practices.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and Cameo Systems Modeler.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or other missile defense programs.
  • Experience with Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT) and MIL-STD-810.
  • Experience with Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technologies.
  • Experience designing or supporting Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) testing in accordance with MIL-STD-461.
  • Experience supporting Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) requirements per MIL-STD-464.
  • Experience supporting High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) protection requirements per MIL-STD-188-125-1 and MIL-STD-188-125-2.
  • Experience with Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) in accordance with MIL-HDBK-344.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives, process improvement efforts, and cross-functional engineering teams.
