This position will be based at Ashburn.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Facilities Maintenance Technician supports the daily operation, maintenance, and appearance of company facilities to ensure a safe, functional, and secure work environment. Working under direct supervision, this position performs routine building maintenance, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs while assisting with facility operations and security-related responsibilities such as maintaining clear access routes, ensuring adequate lighting, and identifying conditions that could impact the security or safety of the facility. The role also provides general support for visitors, vendors, and front desk operations as needed.
- Perform routine building maintenance, repairs, and replacement of structural, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other facility systems and equipment.
- Conduct routine facility walk-throughs to inspect the condition, cleanliness, appearance, and safety of building interiors and exterior grounds, identifying maintenance or security concerns such as burned-out lighting, obstructed security cameras, unsecured doors, or blocked walkways.
- Receive, troubleshoot, and complete maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance tasks, tracking requests through completion and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
- Perform minor office reconfigurations, workstation setup, furniture assembly, and other small facility improvements.
- Maintain and repair auxiliary building equipment and assist in keeping facility systems operating efficiently.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and contractors to ensure timely, cost-effective maintenance and repair services, including escorting contractors and visitors while on-site.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and spare parts to support uninterrupted facility operations.
- Support warehouse and material handling activities as needed.
- Assist with maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly facility by ensuring emergency exits remain accessible, walkways are clear, lighting is operational, and building conditions support overall physical security.
- Provide courteous customer service by assisting with light front desk responsibilities, including greeting visitors, directing guests, and providing coverage as needed.
- Be available to respond to facility emergencies or urgent maintenance issues, including occasional after-hours support as required.
- Provide cross-coverage for Facilities and Security functions during staffing shortages or special events.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in facilities maintenance or a related trade preferred.
- 1-2 years of facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or general maintenance experience.
- Basic knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently on routine assignments while following established procedures.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications for work orders and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform physical maintenance activities throughout the workday.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
- Valid driver's license may be required.
