NATURAL RESOURCE SPECIALIST

• You will plan, schedule, budget, and coordinate environmental programs at Naval Air Facility El Centro ensure compliance with all applicable Navy policy and federal, state, and local environmental laws pertaining to plants, wildlife and their habitat
• You will use best available science to inform management actions and serve as point of contact for assigned programs;
• You will review military activities and Navy and contractor project proposals and conduct site visits to ensure timely coordination with stakeholders and regulatory agencies;
• You will serve as a subject matter expert regarding sensitive plants and wildlife and their habitats as well as associated environmental responsibilities and requirements outlined in Navy policies, biological opinions, memorandums of understanding.
• You will provide outreach and training regarding environmental issues and conservation orally and in writing to tenant commands, leadership, and other stakeholders.
• You will initiate and participate in formal and informal consultation with the United State Fish and Wildlife Service and other regulatory agencies regarding endangered species and other natural resources issues.

- You have a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a related discipline appropriate to this position.



- You have a combination of education and experience in one of the above majors that includes at least 24 semester hours in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline related to this position plus appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination of education and experience demonstrates that you possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work of the position and is comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a full four year course of study with a major as described above.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Managing natural resource programs; Ensuring compliance with Navy policy, natural resource laws and regulatory permits; Displaying a keen understanding of biological field monitoring and interpreting scientific data; and Communicating with staff and other stakeholders about natural resource projects. This experience must be fully supported in your resume.

Must have at least 3-5 years experience in environmental conservation management.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
