Job Description



  • You will serve as the New Parent Home Support Visitor providing New Parent Support Program (NPSP) services.
  • You will coordinate a New Parent Support (NPS) program for compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • You will coordinate support services for expectant parents during pregnancy to education on prenatal or postpartum programs with individualized center and home-based assessments.
  • You will provide prenatal and postpartum education and support to new parents.
  • You will discuss with staff members technical aspects on New Parent Support Program policies and procedures.
  • You will promote and publicize training resources available for social services programs.
  • You will administer ongoing case management services to assess individual or family needs.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time


This is an interdisciplinary position which may be filled by any of the following series: CLINICAL COUNSELOR (0101) OR SOCIAL WORKER (0185).

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Implementing mandated reporting and program delivery decisions and; 2) Interpreting and adapting existing guidelines to arrive at a finding or conclusion, or to decide appropriate course of actions; and 3) Delivering support services in serious and complex cases involving families at-risk for child abuse and neglect, creating and maintaining relationship with community partners, and providing education and training. ***NOTE: This information must be supported in your resume to be considered for the position.***

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

Basic education requirements for the GS-0101, Professional Social Science Series: Have successfully completed a behavioral or social science degree, or a degree in a related discipline appropriate to the position being filled
OR
Have a combination of education and experience that provided knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Have four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Basic education requirements for the GS-0185, Professional Social Work Series: Have successfully completed a degree in social work that fulfills all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
OR
Have successfully completed a master's degree in social work with practicum.



This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
