Job Title: Configuration Manager
Location: MacDill, FL

This position is pending contract award.

Job Responsibilities

Trace Systems is seeking an experienced Configuration Manager to support a global transport network supporting the US Special Operations Command and mission partners. The Configuration Manager supports Command, Control, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C2ISR) programs by maintaining configuration integrity across hardware, software, networks, interfaces, and documentation. This position ensures that complex, distributed systems remain fully documented, traceable, and properly controlled throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain configuration management plans, processes, procedures, and work instructions for C2ISR programs.
  • Identify, document, and track all configuration items across software, hardware, firmware, and technical documentation baselines.
  • Establish and manage system baselines, including functional, allocated, and product baselines.
  • Manage change control activities, including engineering change proposals, change requests, deviations, and waivers.
  • Support and operate Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), including preparation of agendas, artifacts, decision records, and ensure updates are implemented.
  • Maintain configuration status accounting, including versioning, baselines, and audit trails.
  • Provide regular CM reporting to program leadership.
  • Ensure accuracy and version control of system architecture documents, ICDs, network diagrams, software builds, and operational technical manuals.
  • Conduct configuration audits (functional and physical) to validate the alignment between documentation and fielded C2ISR systems.
  • Coordinate with engineers, cybersecurity teams, system integrators, test teams, and logistics personnel to maintain configuration integrity.
  • Support integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment activities through disciplined CM practices.
  • Maintain CM repositories and tools.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD and program-specific CM policies, standards, and lifecycle processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active, in-scope US Government issued Top Secret w/ SCI clearance.
  • Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
  • Candidates must meet the qualification requirements of DoDM 8140.03 for the DCWF 802 - IT Project Manager (Intermediate) work role through an approved qualification pathway (Education, DoD Military/Training, Certification, or a combination thereof), as defined by the applicable contract.Qualification Pathways (One or More May Apply).
  • Education (OR)
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related technical field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • DoD/Military Training (OR)
  • Certification (OR)
    • DoD approved 8140 aligned certification for DCWF 802 (Intermediate), such as: CompTIA Security+ CE, SecurityX, CASP+, GSEC, DAIWA PM Practioner or other equivalent DoD recognized certification aligned to the work role.
  • Ability to travel worldwide, including to remote or austere locations. Individual trips may extend up to two months, with the possibility of multiple trips per year.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
  • 5+ years of configuration management experience supporting ISR, SATCOM, or mission support operations.
  • Experience with DoD or intelligence community configuration management practices.
  • Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-61A, DoD 5000-series, ISO 10007, or related CM standards.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles, especially for distributed C2ISR systems.
  • Experience with software and hardware version control, baseline management, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to work in a secure environment and coordinate across multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills for documenting processes and facilitating change control boards.

Desired Qualification

  • Experience supporting SOCOM, CENTCOM, AFRICOM, TRANSCOM, Space Force, or other Combatant Command environments.
  • Experience supporting OCONUS operations and remote-site sustainment activities.
  • Prior military service or experience supporting DOD customers.
