LEAD ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

• You will administer and provide technical guidance for Project Lead Engineering duties, conduct final reviews, and provide leadership to engineers and technicians in support of shipyard waterfront availabilities.
• You will assume overall responsibility and authority for technical Lead Field Engineering support for project waterfront availabilities on assigned ship classes.
• You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for designated Hull/Structural (Code 250) or Electrical (Code 270) systems, serving as a primary mentor to lower-level engineers and the production workforce regarding assigned projects.
• You will lead, coach, mentor, and develop staff, which includes observing assigned team members, assessing training needs, and ensuring core competency gaps are identified and decreased.
• You will review, progress, and assure the timely completion of non-nuclear interface work completed by the team, obtaining required concurrences and technical resolutions for nuclear interface problems.
• You will generate reports for senior leadership.
• You will direct the development and application of policies, techniques, and procedures required for the accomplishment of Lead Engineering work efforts relative to the work assigned.
• You will apply a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze, and improve team effectiveness, efficiency, and work products

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Experience managing, coordinating, reviewing, and providing expert technical/engineering guidance and advice for complex maintenance, repair, construction, and overhaul of a variety of naval vessel classes of conventional and nuclear ships and ability to determine cost and availability of material using various data bases along with ordering requirements. Experience applying knowledgeable of ordering standard shipyard ordering codes or similar.
• Experience understanding engineering principles applied to US Naval Ships maintenance, repair and construction, reactor plant fundamentals and operation, processing (including engineering, planning, estimating, production, scheduling and testing) and the ability to evaluate and apply the latest developments and techniques to solve complex problems, identify root causes, and recommend formal technical solutions or similar.
• Experience training, coaching, and mentoring engineers and technicians in subjects of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and structural systems/components such as SUBSAFE Reentry Control, Fly-By-Wire (FBW), DSS-SOC Systems, Hull/Structural systems, Hull preservation, shipboard electrical power distribution, and C5I/Network systems or similar
• Experience with the electrical, electronic, mechanical, and structural systems/components such as SUBSAFE/Reentry Controls/DSS-SOC/ FBW processes, Hull/Structural systems, Hull preservation, shipboard electrical power distribution, and C5I/Network systems or similar.
• Experience with technical characteristics, operation, maintenance, repair and modernization of nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers and other non-nuclear surface ships, as well as a thorough knowledge on the location, capacity and availability of shipyard resources, facilities, and services or similar.
• Experience using strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate clear, timely, and effective technical interactions with team members, ship's force, project teams, and external stakeholders.
• Experience with leading projects and overseeing the work of subordinates, driving successful outcomes, and promoting teamwork.
