Job Description
- You will be responsible for planning and executing complex analyses in order to support the assessment of explosive ordnance disposal tools and technologies.
- You will prepare technical and programmatic plans for EOD technology assessment projects.
- You will independently plan and conduct testing and research on EOD equipment to determine the equipment's capabilities and limitations, including if it should be rejected or accepted, reworked, or if it can be improved.
- You will be responsible for planning and execution of scientific projects to include supporting test and evaluation of EOD equipment.
- You will represent the command at various government and private industry meetings, symposiums, and conferences.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

TO QUALIFY FOR ND-04: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-03 (GS-09/11 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional scientist planning and executing complex analyses in order to support the assessment of explosive ordnance disposal tools and technologies with little to no oversight by preparing technical and programmatic plans for EOD technology assessment projects; independently plan and conduct testing and research on EOD equipment to determine the equipment's capabilities and limitations.
TO QUALIFY FOR ND-03: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-02 (GS-05 through 08 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector planning and executing analyses in order to support the assessment of explosive ordnance disposal tools and technologies by drafting technical and programmatic plans for EOD technology assessment projects; conduct testing and research on EOD equipment to determine the equipment's capabilities and limitations.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
A. Degree : physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

This announcement uses the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratory (STRL) Direct Hire Authority for STRL Mission Support to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
You will serve as a SCIENTIST in the Warfighter Defense & Systems Integration Department (W), Battle Lab Division (W4), EOD Technology Assessment Branch (W43) of Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division located in Indian Head, MD.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-03 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-09 through GS-11; the ND-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-12 and GS-13.
