SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER

• You will serve as a lead or senior firefighter in a supervisory capacity, ensuring the safety of personnel and successful completion of critical fireground operations.
• You will manage shift schedules, provide performance evaluations, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations.
• You will handle personnel issues in accordance with fire department policies and procedures.
• You will perform a variety of fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical, and hazardous response duties.
• You will interpret the types of hazards and response information available from hazardous material databases, monitoring equipment, computer-based software, MSDS and reference manuals.
• You will apply firefighting tactics and strategy related to fire behavior in structures/aircraft, and wildland fire.
• You will apply principles of fire streams, use of forcible entry tools, search and rescue techniques, fireground operations, SCBA, interior/exterior operations, ladders, salvage and overhaul.
• You will show water rescue techniques, boat operations, search/rescue and dragging operations, and security patrol.
• You will maintain emergency services and fire equipment for operational readiness.

• You will be required to work hours and conditions that are in close contact with Supervisors and coworkers for long periods of time (24 to 72 hrs.)
• This position is designated emergency essential personnel and the position is subject to recall.
• You are required to wear a uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps Orders/Policies.
• You will be required to work an uncommon tour of duty (may include weekend, nights, overtime, or holidays) and rotating shift work.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Manage a Fire and Emergency Services (F & ES) program (e.g., explosive chemical surety, hazardous materials, aircraft and structural biological agents, weapons of mass destruction) for an organization; develops, instructs, and participates in training sessions formal and practical, lectures, computer based, demonstrations and drills for all phases of operations; perform on scene surveys to implement initial hazardous materials mitigation actions; and prepare inspection reports to brief fire investigations finding of fire safety deficiencies to senior leaders.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

• You will be required to participate in the Department of Defense Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program.
• You will be required to maintain compliance with NFPA 1582 (Fire Fighter Physical Medical Evaluations), NFPA 1583 (Fire Fighter Fitness Program Requirements.
• You will be required to participate in the mandatory F&ESD Physical Fitness Program to maintain a level and degree of fitness needed to perform all duties.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain current FIREFIGHTER certifications: Fire Officer II, Fire Inspector I, and Fire Instructor I by the Department of Defense (DoD), International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain current FIREFIGHTER certifications: Hazardous Materials Incident Commander.
• You will be required to possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• You must possess a current National Registry or State Certification as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
• You will be required to obtain and maintain current FIREFIGHTER certifications: Hazardous Material Awareness, Hazardous Material Operations, and Hazardous Materials Technician AND Incident commander.
