Job Description
- Install, align, and overhaul complex integrated machinery and munitions manufacturing systems.
- Troubleshoot interrelated mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic equipment malfunctions.
- Fabricate specialized tools, fixtures, and templates using conventional machine shop equipment.
- Perform precision and structural welding on light and heavy gauge metals.
- Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications to plan repair operations.
- Operate precision optical and laser measuring devices to verify exact mechanical tolerances.
- Calculate accurate sizes and dimensions using standard shop mathematics and handbook formulas.
- Execute emergency repairs on active manufacturing lines to ensure continuous production.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Industrial Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common industrial equipment mechanic duties involving the lay out, install, repair and maintain a wide variety of equipment and machinery that utilize mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles of operation. Design, fabricate, test, install and modify specialized tools, fixtures and complex equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort: must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries items weighing up to and occasionally in excess of 65 pounds with help.
- Working Conditions: Work indoors and outdoors in all kind of weather conditions. Work is usually performed on concrete floors on the equipment being repaired. Work areas may be dirty, noisy and smoky. Sometimes will contain live live rounds and ammunition. Subject to discomfort from wearing protective clothing and is subject to burns, eye injuries, cuts and bruises.
