Job Description

As the Sanitary Sewer System Technician, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of sanitary sewer infrastructure to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient collection and conveyance of wastewater. This role is critical to maintaining mission-essential utilities and ensuring compliance with U.S. military standards, environmental regulations, and applicable safety requirements.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience maintaining wastewater collection systems, diagnosing complex sewer and plumbing issues, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance in commercial, industrial, or military environments.

Essential Job Functions:

Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair sanitary sewer systems, including sewer mains, service lines, manholes, lift stations, pumps, valves, and associated wastewater infrastructure.

Perform preventive maintenance to maximize system reliability, minimize service interruptions, and reduce emergency repairs.

Diagnose and resolve complex sewer and plumbing issues, including blockages, leaks, pipe failures, infiltration, and equipment malfunctions.

Operate and maintain specialized equipment used in wastewater collection system maintenance, including:
  • Hydro-jetting equipment
  • Vacuum trucks
  • CCTV/video inspection systems
  • Pipe locating equipment
  • Sewer cleaning and maintenance tools

Conduct routine inspections of sanitary sewer infrastructure and document system conditions, deficiencies, and recommended corrective actions.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, and asset documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Respond to emergency sewer system failures and after-hours service calls to restore operations as quickly and safely as possible.

Coordinate with engineers, maintenance personnel, contractors, and Government representatives to support installation infrastructure and mission requirements.

Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations, wastewater management standards, OSHA requirements, confined space entry procedures, and hazardous materials handling protocols.

Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment while following all force protection and safety policies.

Perform additional duties as assigned in support of base operations.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required.

High school diploma or GED.

Current Master Plumber or Journeyman Plumber license.

Minimum five (5) years of experience maintaining wastewater collection systems, sanitary sewer infrastructure, or commercial/industrial plumbing systems.

Strong knowledge of wastewater collection systems, sewer maintenance procedures, plumbing systems, and applicable plumbing codes.

Experience operating sewer inspection, cleaning, and maintenance equipment.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, utility drawings, technical plans, schematics, and equipment manuals.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the technical aptitude to quickly learn computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other enterprise software applications.

Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License.

Valid U.S. Passport preferred.

Must meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy requirements as outlined in the current USCENTCOM Individual and Individual-Unit Deployment Policy.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Qatar Residency Visa.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Must be capable of working in extreme environmental conditions, including high temperatures, dust, humidity, and other austere deployed environments.

Must be willing to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency service calls as mission requirements dictate.

Must be physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, working in confined spaces, entering manholes, climbing ladders, and performing physically demanding work.

Travel

100% deployment to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.

Desired Skills:

Experience supporting U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense, or overseas contingency operations.

Certification in Confined Space Entry, OSHA 30, or wastewater operations.

Experience with lift station maintenance, wastewater pumping systems, and underground utility infrastructure.

Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Knowledge of environmental compliance regulations governing wastewater collection systems.

Military or government contractor experience supporting utility infrastructure.
