Job Description

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician - Assessor to support operations at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. This position is responsible for inspecting, assessing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and overseeing the installation and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC systems that support mission-critical facilities across the installation.

The HVAC Technician - Assessor is responsible for evaluating the condition, performance, and operational readiness of commercial and industrial HVAC systems. This role performs inspections, diagnoses equipment issues, recommends corrective actions, and ensures preventive maintenance programs are executed in accordance with U.S. military standards, manufacturer specifications, and industry best practices.

The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience with commercial HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, ventilation systems, and associated mechanical and electrical components. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to support facility operations in a demanding deployed environment.

Essential Job Functions:

Inspect, assess, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, air handling units (AHUs), ventilation systems, fan coil units, pumps, motors, and associated equipment.

Conduct comprehensive inspections of HVAC systems to evaluate equipment condition, identify deficiencies, and recommend preventive or corrective maintenance.

Install, test, commission, and oversee repairs of HVAC equipment and systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with technical standards.

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control system failures and determine appropriate repair or replacement actions.

Coordinate with the HVAC Lead and Trade Shop Supervisor to prioritize work orders, maintenance schedules, and project completion.

Monitor preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle performance.

Prepare detailed inspection reports, work orders, maintenance records, and activity logs documenting system performance and completed work.

Recommend replacement parts, equipment, and materials to maintain adequate inventory and support uninterrupted maintenance operations.

Respond to emergency service calls and after-hours maintenance requests to restore mission-critical HVAC systems.

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

Utilize hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments to perform maintenance and repairs.

Ensure all work complies with OSHA standards, environmental regulations, U.S. Air Force requirements, and applicable building codes.

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while adhering to all safety and force protection requirements.

Perform additional facility maintenance duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required.

High school diploma or GED.

Minimum five (5) years of journey-level experience maintaining and repairing commercial or industrial HVAC systems.

EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.

Demonstrated experience with boilers, chillers, air conditioning systems, ventilation systems, pumps, motors, and associated HVAC equipment.

Ability to inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control system issues.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and HVAC testing equipment.

Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the technical aptitude to quickly learn computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other enterprise software applications.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License.

Valid U.S. Passport preferred.

Must meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy requirements, as outlined in the current USCENTCOM Individual and Individual-Unit Deployment Policy.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Qatar Residency Visa.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions, including high temperatures, dust, humidity, and other austere deployed environments.

Must be capable of working extended hours, weekends, holidays, and responding to emergency maintenance requests as mission requirements dictate. .

Travel

100% deployment to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.

Desired Skills:

Associate's degree or technical certification in HVAC, Mechanical Systems, or a related field.

Experience supporting U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense, or overseas contingency operations.

Experience inspecting and maintaining mission-critical HVAC systems supporting data centers, communications facilities, or secure environments.

Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Additional HVAC certifications such as NATE, HVAC Excellence, or equivalent.

Experience supervising HVAC projects or leading maintenance teams.
