We are seeking an experienced HVAC/Industrial Chilled Water Systems (ICWS) Technician to support operations at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mission-critical HVAC and Industrial Chilled Water Systems (ICWS) that support operational readiness and facility reliability across the installation.
The HVAC/ICWS Technician is responsible for the operation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, Industrial Chilled Water Systems (ICWS), and associated building control systems. The successful candidate will ensure reliable environmental control and chilled water distribution for mission-critical facilities while maintaining compliance with U.S. military standards, safety regulations, and host-nation requirements.
This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, experience with industrial cooling systems, and the ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance in a demanding deployed environment.
Essential Job Functions:
HVAC Systems
Operate, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including:
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control-related HVAC system failures.
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, technical manuals, and established maintenance schedules.
Monitor HVAC system performance and recommend improvements to maximize efficiency, reliability, and equipment life.
Maintain mission-critical environmental control systems supporting communications, operations centers, and secure facilities.
Industrial Chilled Water Systems (ICWS)
Operate, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Industrial Chilled Water Systems (ICWS) supporting base operations.
Monitor chilled water generation, pumping, and distribution systems to ensure continuous operation.
Operate and maintain industrial control systems supporting chilled water infrastructure.
Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and related control interfaces.
Respond to alarms, equipment failures, and system anomalies to restore operational capability.
Inspect, test, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, sensors, motors, piping systems, and control components.
Support water system testing, flushing, balancing, and compliance activities as required.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, work orders, and equipment documentation.
Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to document maintenance activities and equipment history.
Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, Government personnel, and other maintenance teams to support mission requirements.
Respond to emergency maintenance requests and provide after-hours or on-call support as required.
Ensure all work complies with OSHA standards, environmental regulations, U.S. Air Force requirements, and applicable building codes.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, organized, and operational condition.
Perform additional facility maintenance duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum five (5) years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial or industrial HVAC/R systems and Industrial Chilled Water Systems (ICWS).
EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.
Working knowledge of industrial chilled water systems, HVAC controls, and building automation systems.
Experience operating and maintaining industrial control systems, chilled water plants, pumps, and distribution systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, electrical schematics, piping diagrams, and control drawings.
Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the technical aptitude to quickly learn computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), Building Management Systems (BMS), and other enterprise technologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License.
Valid U.S. Passport preferred.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Qatar Residency Visa.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions, including high temperatures, dust, humidity, and other austere deployed environments.
Must be capable of working extended hours, weekends, holidays, and responding to emergency maintenance calls as mission requirements dictate.
Must be able to lift equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including climbing, kneeling, and working in confined spaces when required.
Travel

Associate's degree or technical certification in HVAC, Mechanical Systems, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
Experience supporting U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense, or overseas contingency operations.

Experience maintaining central utility plants or large-scale chilled water distribution systems.
Additional HVAC/R certifications (NATE, HVAC Excellence, or equivalent).
Experience working in deployed or austere environments.
