We are seeking an experienced HVAC/CRAC Technician to support operations at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. This position is responsible for maintaining critical heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration (HVAC/R), and Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) systems that support mission-essential facilities and infrastructure.
The HVAC/CRAC Technician performs installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, including mission-critical Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units. The successful candidate will ensure facility systems remain fully operational while supporting mission readiness in a demanding deployed environment.
This position requires a strong working knowledge of HVAC/R systems, chillers, ventilation equipment, and facility operations, along with the ability to supervise maintenance activities, coordinate preventive maintenance schedules, and respond rapidly to equipment failures.
Essential Job Functions:
Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, including Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on chillers, air conditioning systems, ventilation equipment, refrigeration systems, and associated mechanical components.
Diagnose electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control system failures using appropriate testing equipment and manufacturer specifications.
Maintain mission-critical cooling systems supporting data centers, communications facilities, and secure operational environments.
Monitor HVAC system performance and recommend repairs, upgrades, or improvements to maximize operational efficiency and equipment reliability.
Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules, work orders, and service requests to minimize equipment downtime.
Supervise and assist maintenance personnel and craftsmen in the completion of assigned work.
Conduct routine field inspections to ensure work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to project requirements.
Respond to emergency service calls and after-hours maintenance requests as mission requirements dictate.
Maintain maintenance logs, inspection reports, service records, and equipment documentation.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, environmental policies, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable building codes.
Utilize Microsoft Office applications and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to document work activities and generate reports.
Maintain a safe work environment while following all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
Perform additional facility maintenance duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining and repairing commercial or industrial HVAC/R systems.
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) systems.
EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.
Strong working knowledge of HVAC/R equipment, refrigeration systems, chillers, ventilation systems, and associated controls.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and the technical aptitude to quickly learn new software and maintenance management systems.
Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License.
Valid U.S. Passport preferred.
Must meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy requirements, as outlined in the current USCENTCOM Individual and Individual-Unit Deployment Policy.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Qatar Residency Visa.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds in accordance with OSHA requirements.
Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions, including high temperatures, dust, humidity, and other austere deployed environments.
Must be willing to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency call-outs when required.
