Job Description

We are seeking a Fire Alarm & Mass Notification Technician to support operations at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. This position plays a vital role in maintaining life safety and emergency communications systems that protect military personnel, civilians, and contractors while ensuring mission continuity in a deployed environment.

The Fire Alarm & Mass Notification Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm and base-wide mass notification systems. This role ensures the reliable operation of emergency alerting systems used to disseminate critical information during emergencies, force protection events, and contingency operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with Emergency Management, Security Forces, the Command Post, Communications personnel, and other mission partners to maintain system readiness and ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Air Force standards.

Essential Job Functions:

Operate, monitor, inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire alarm and mass notification systems, including Giant Voice, indoor warning systems, sirens, public address systems, and digital emergency notification platforms.

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and system testing in accordance with DoD, Air Force, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and applicable manufacturer standards.

Troubleshoot and repair hardware, software, network, communications, electrical, and power-related issues affecting fire alarm and mass notification systems.

Respond to emergency service calls and system outages to restore operational capability as quickly as possible.

Coordinate with Emergency Management, Security Forces, Command Post, Civil Engineering, and Communications personnel during real-world emergencies, exercises, and contingency operations.

Initiate emergency alerts and public announcements as directed by authorized Government personnel.

Maintain system documentation, maintenance logs, inspection records, testing reports, and configuration management documentation.

Support system upgrades, modernization efforts, software updates, and integration with other life safety and communication systems.

Ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements, safety regulations, and applicable operational policies.

Provide technical assistance and user training for authorized personnel on fire alarm and emergency notification systems.

Participate in emergency preparedness drills, exercises, inspections, and after-action reviews.

Assist with identifying system deficiencies and recommending corrective actions to improve system reliability and performance.

Maintain a safe working environment while adhering to all environmental, health, and safety requirements.

Perform additional duties as assigned in support of base operations.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or technical certification preferred).

Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required.

Minimum 2 years of experience supporting communications systems, electronics, fire alarm systems, mass notification systems, public address systems, or related electronic systems.

Working knowledge of fire alarm systems, emergency notification systems, life safety systems, or integrated building automation systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.

Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the technical aptitude to quickly learn and effectively utilize new technologies, software applications, and enterprise systems.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must possess a valid U.S. Driver's License.

Valid U.S. Passport preferred.

Must meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy requirements, as outlined in the current USCENTCOM Individual and Individual-Unit Deployment Policy.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Qatar Residency Visa.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions, including high temperatures, dust, humidity, and other austere deployed environments.

Must be capable of working extended hours, weekends, holidays, and responding to emergency call-outs as mission requirements dictate.

Must be able to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work at heights or in confined spaces when required.

Travel

100% deployment to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar.

Desired Skills:

Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Information Technology, Fire Protection, or a related technical field.

Experience supporting U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense, or overseas contingency operations.

Familiarity with Giant Voice, AtHoc, or other military mass notification systems.

Experience maintaining NFPA 72 fire alarm and emergency communications systems.

NICET Fire Alarm Systems certification or equivalent technical certifications.

Experience supporting integrated fire alarm, life safety, and building automation systems.

Military or government contractor experience in deployed environments.
