Strategic Bomber SME


Location: Onsite – Offutt AFB, NE


Minimum Clearance Required: Top Secret/SCI

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position necessitates an active U.S. Government Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens are not eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations, and illegal drug use.

As a Strategic Bomber Subject Matter Expert, you will be providing senior-level expertise in strategic bomber operations and integration. This role requires a seasoned officer with extensive experience in B-1, B-2, B-52, and/or B-21 operations, combined with headquarters-level planning exposure. The selected candidate will advise senior leaders, support operational planning, and contribute to strategic airpower integration across joint and national-level efforts.

What You Will Do:


  • Provide subject matter expertise on strategic bomber operations, capabilities, and employment concepts.

  • Support development of strategic and operational-level plans integrating bomber forces into joint campaigns.

  • Advise General Officer (GO), Flag Officer, and Senior Executive Service (SES) leadership on bomber force employment, readiness, and modernization.

  • Contribute to force posture analysis, global force management discussions, and strategic deterrence considerations.

  • Support Air Operations Center (AOC) planning processes and integration of bomber assets into air tasking cycles.

  • Participate in joint planning forums and provide bomber-specific expertise during strategy and operational design efforts.

  • Develop executive-ready briefing materials and decision support products.




Who You Are and What You Need:


  • Master's degree or higher required.

  • Minimum of 15 years of practical B-1, B-2, B-52, and/or B-21 experience as an officer.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working at the Office of the Secretary of War, Joint Staff, Combatant Command (CCMD), Service Headquarters, MAJCOM, or equivalent senior headquarters.

  • Air Operations Center (AOC) experience required.

  • Must be a Weapons School graduate.

  • Must be a Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase II graduate.

  • Must be a Senior Service School graduate.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting strategic or operational-level planning efforts.

  • Experience briefing senior executive leadership (GO/Flag/SES level).
