Job Description
is seeking a to support a federal partner advancing national security research and high-energy physics technologies. This position is in This is a direct-hire opportunity supporting a national leader in pulsed power systems, advanced radiography, fusion technologies, and high-energy density physics research.
The Mechanical CAD Designer will develop detailed 3D models and engineering documentation for next-generation pulsed power machines and accelerator systems. This role partners closely with engineers, scientists, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to support the design, fabrication, and configuration management of advanced mechanical systems.
· Create 3D solid models and detailed mechanical drawings for pulsed power and accelerator systems
· Collaborate with engineers and scientists to develop and refine design concepts
· Interpret engineering requirements and translate concepts into manufacturable design documentation
· Coordinate with procurement, manufacturing teams, and suppliers on materials, schedules, and fabrication requirements
· Manage engineering documentation using product data management and configuration control tools
· Apply GD&T standards and mechanical design best practices to engineering deliverables
· Support design reviews, testing activities, and lifecycle maintenance of mechanical systems
· High School Diploma required; Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred
· 3+ years of Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Proficiency creating mechanical product definitions, 3D solid models, and detailed engineering drawings
· Experience with PTC Creo, Windchill/PDMLink, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
· Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L Security Clearance through a federal background investigation
· Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
· Salary Range: $60,000-$83,000 based on experience
