Job Description



  • You will troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, modify, test and calibrate a variety of complex, multifunctional, interrelated, multicomponent precision instruments and equipment.
  • You will determine if making needed repairs and adjustments would be feasible and cost effective.
  • You will make modifications or adaptations to obtain desired performance characteristics.
  • You will consider interactions of functionally related subsystems to isolate malfunctions when making repairs adjustments and alignments.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

- Test and troubleshoot to analyze, repair and maintain physical/dimensional/ optical/electromechanical instrument systems.
- Repair, overhaul and calibrate unusually complex instruments and equipment.
- Use a variety of trade tools, measurement devices and test equipment to adapt them to special applications.
- Trace and correct malfunctions in unusually complex equipment.
- Read and interpret complex multi-view drawing, sketches, wiring diagrams, and other technical materials.
- Use shop mathematics pertaining to electricity, and mechanics when making repairs and conducting initial and final tests and calibrations.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
