Requirements
The UXO Technician II is responsible for locating, identifying, and disposing of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in accordance with established safety procedures and regulations. This position supports UXO operations through detection, excavation, transportation, storage, and disposal activities while ensuring compliance with all applicable safety and environmental requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Locate, identify, and classify surface and subsurface UXO.
- Operate magnetometers and other detection equipment to locate buried ordnance.
- Excavate UXO using manual and mechanical methods.
- Transport, store, and prepare UXO and demolition materials for disposal.
- Assist with the preparation and execution of UXO disposal operations, including burning and detonation.
- Operate and maintain UXO detection equipment and perform routine operator maintenance.
- Establish and maintain safe holding and disposal areas.
- Wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Support decontamination procedures and emergency response activities as required.
- Maintain accurate records and follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience supporting UXO operations or explosive ordnance disposal activities.
- Ability to safely identify, handle, and dispose of unexploded ordnance.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding environments and comply with all safety requirements.
