Job Description
The Financial Data Specialist Intern will play a key role in supporting CenCore's Corporate Accounting and Finance Team in partnership with the Data Team, located in Springville, Utah. This paid internship/full-time hourly position offers hands-on experience in accounting, financial reporting, data analysis, and business process improvement. The intern will work directly under the supervision of CenCore's Corporate Controller while collaborating with accounting and data personnel to improve data accuracy, reporting capabilities, and financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Financial Data Specialist Intern may include some of the following:
- Initiate, maintain, and review company financial data and accounting records for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with data collection, validation, and analysis to support accounting and business operations
- Review credit card transactions and financial records for proper project accounting and reporting
- Assist in ensuring accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
- Assist in ensuring accounts receivable are collected in a timely manner, actively managing weekly reports and follow-up activities regarding overdue invoices
- Apply cash payments to open A/R accounts and manage weekly reports regarding outstanding balances
- Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of reports, dashboards, and data-driven insights for management
- Collaborate with the Data Team to improve data integrity, reporting processes, and operational efficiencies
- Participate in cross-functional projects involving finance, accounting, and business data analysis
- Assist with the monthly close process to issue timely, accurate, and complete financial statements
- Work with accounting leadership to develop benchmarks, metrics, and reporting solutions that support business objectives
Compliance
- Help maintain an adequate system of accounting records and controls to mitigate risk, enhance accuracy, and ensure compliance with DCAA and GAAP financial reporting standards
- Assist with data governance practices that promote accuracy, consistency, and reliability of financial information
- Provide information to external and government auditors during audits
- Assist in oversight of local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
