Summary:
The Unified Communications Engineer is responsible for the administration, operation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise voice and video communications systems. This role serves as the technical lead for Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) environments, supporting VoIP infrastructure, collaboration platforms, and voice services across multiple enclaves and locations while ensuring availability, security, and performance.

Summary:
The Unified Communications Engineer is responsible for the administration, operation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise voice and video communications systems. This role serves as the technical lead for Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) environments, supporting VoIP infrastructure, collaboration platforms, and voice services across multiple enclaves and locations while ensuring availability, security, and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Administer and manage all components of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) environment.
- Monitor and maintain enterprise voice and video services across multiple locations and network enclaves.
- Design, configure, install, and upgrade VoIP hardware, software, and collaboration solutions.
- Perform provisioning, testing, operations, and emergency response activities for voice network services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve voice, video, and unified communications issues, including support during non-core business hours as required.
- Configure and support SIP trunks, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), SCCP, MGCP, and H.323 technologies.
- Integrate voice services with external SIP providers and enterprise network infrastructure.
- Maintain voice and video architecture documentation, network diagrams, configurations, deployment plans, and operational procedures.
- Provide subject matter expertise and technical support to stakeholders and tenant organizations.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers to support operational requirements and resolve technical issues.
- Ensure voice systems comply with applicable cybersecurity requirements, STIGs, and vulnerability management policies.
- Perform preventative maintenance and lifecycle management of VoIP and collaboration infrastructure.
- Evaluate emerging voice, video, and collaboration technologies and recommend improvements to existing services.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience designing, implementing, supporting, or maintaining enterprise communications systems.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience administering Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) Version 14.1 or newer.
- Active Top Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility.
- Experience with Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Finesse, Cisco IM&P, Unified Contact Center Express (UCCX), and Cisco Emergency Responder.
- Experience with dynamic and static IPv4 routing and integration with external SIP service providers.
- Proficiency supporting SBC, SIP, SCCP, MGCP, and H.323 protocols and technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and operational support experience in enterprise VoIP environments.
- Current Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Collaboration certification or successful completion of the Cisco Collaboration Core (CLCOR) examination.
- Ability to meet DoD 8140 Cybersecurity Workforce requirements.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Navy (DoN), or other Federal Government environments.
- Experience with enterprise video conferencing and collaboration platforms.
- Familiarity with network security principles, STIG compliance, and vulnerability remediation processes.
- Experience supporting large-scale, geographically dispersed communications environments.
- Additional Cisco Collaboration or networking certifications.
