Job Description
- Plan, manage, and oversee comprehensive audits or projects, within the area of responsibility, through subordinate supervisors.
- Provide guidance to subordinate supervisors in audit or project execution, maintenance of schedules, and value of findings and recommendations.
- Oversee or directly assign work; establish performance standards and evaluate performance; reward employees; ensure appropriate staff development.
- Direct the development of reports or special projects, ensure compliance with standards and the development of appropriate corrective actions; and defend results or project data through the resolution process.
- Represents the Audit Component and agency by preparing and presenting briefings to key stakeholders, such as Congressional staff, foreign governments, the Office of the Secretary of War, and other federal agencies.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Position has been designated as security designation level Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information.

- Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoW OIG.
- Current DoW civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.

Time in Grade:
For entry at the GS-15 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-14 or equivalent or higher grade, in the Federal Service.
You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-14 level in the Federal service or at an equivalent level. This specialized experience must have been acquired in an environment focused on government oversight, audits, or investigations at the federal level. Specialized experience is defined as: (1) Supervising audit teams; evaluating performance; developing staff; and addressing workplace issues. (2) Applying knowledge of organizational mission and policies to plan, manage, and ensure compliance of audit work. (3) Managing audit planning and execution in accordance with standards; reviewing findings and recommendations for accuracy and value. (4) Communicating expectations and results by delivering briefings, high-stakes meetings, and audience-appropriate messaging. (5) Managing the development of clear, defensible, evidence-based audit documentation, findings, and recommendations.

Basic Qualifications for the 0511 Series: Degree: accounting, auditing; or a degree including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.
Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction.
