Deployment Consultant (Expert) - Server Builds / VMware Location: U.S.-based, 50% Travel / 50% Remote | Houston, TX (Open to any U.S. home location) Clearance: Active DoD Secret (Top Secret preferred) Job Type: W2 | Start: August 2026 | Openings: 2 About the Role Join a specialized A&PS Build Team as an expert Deployment Consultant supporting hands-on infrastructure builds and secure platform deployments for classified data centers. You will be the technical lead on-site, standing up HPE platforms, deploying virtualization solutions, and ensuring compliance in high-security environments. This position offers a unique blend of travel, direct system work, and remote flexibility. Responsibilities - Travel to customer locations across the U.S. to deliver and install HPE hardware systems - Perform hardware connectivity, installation, and initial platform setup on-site - Install, patch, and configure Linux and VMware ESXi/vSphere environments from the ground up - Build, deploy, and manage virtual machines and private cloud infrastructure - Oversee OS image lifecycle management, including golden image creation, updates, and system hardening - Implement and remediate DISA STIGs to ensure secure environment compliance - Support and troubleshoot Kubernetes/container platform deployments as part of modern infrastructure - Resolve complex system issues during deployment and stand-up phases - Collaborate with remote teams post-deployment for ongoing support - Maintain strict adherence to classified environment protocols and travel requirements Required Skills and Experience - Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred) - Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship - 5+ years of expert, hands-on infrastructure experience-this is not a junior role - Advanced Linux administration skills: installation, configuration, command-line, patching, and troubleshooting - Deep expertise in VMware ESXi and vSphere, including VM deployment and management - Proven track record of building greenfield data center or private cloud environments - Strong knowledge of OS image management, golden images, agents, system updates, and hardening - Familiarity with DISA STIG processes and secure, classified environment compliance - Experience with Kubernetes or similar container platforms - Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%, including 1-2 week site stays Preferred Skills - Experience in classified, government, or DoD environments - Extended travel in challenging or remote locations - Advanced troubleshooting of hardware/software integration - Exposure to HPE server platform deployments Benefits - All travel expenses fully covered - Flexible work arrangement: 50% remote after initial deployments - Work with cutting-edge virtualization and cloud technologies - High-impact role in mission-critical, classified infrastructure projects - Exclusive opportunity with a leading national technology team - Potential for long-term career growth into advanced engineering, security, or architecture roles How to Apply Ready to take the lead in secure infrastructure deployments?
