Job Description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a Security Administrative Assistant to provide full-time technical and professional support services at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA.

This position is contingent upon contract award, anticipated for September 2026.

Typical Responsibilities:
  • DATABASE AND SYSTEM MANAGEMENT
    • Provide technical support for Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and Ships Visit Request (SHVR) databases.
    • Assist with security planning, development, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance by gathering and presenting security data.
    • Provide support to the MARMC Security Department's SHVR and contracting access control operations, ensuring data consistency while coordinating with government and contracting personnel and agencies to collect and update government access control information.
    • Monitor and input changes or modification to command spreadsheets, databases, and various security documents.
  • ACCESS CONTROL AND SECURITY MANAGEMENT
    • Support command security programs by aiding in the development and implementation of security procedures related to access requirements, clearances, and badging.
    • Assist with citizenship verification, processing and coordinating visit requests with government approval.
    • Support personnel access logistics and ensure access list updates are promptly forwarded to appropriate personnel.
  • DATA ENTRY AND RECORD-KEEPING
    • Execute data entry and record-keeping responsibilities, including entering and maintaining government-identified information in specified systems.
    • Maintain security and access data from various sources, audits for accuracy per government standards, assists with data setup, monitors system updates, and reports discrepancies.
    • Support processing of camera passes, DOD visit requests, and assist with record tracking while adhering to government standards and maintaining oversight by the Security Office (SO).
    • Maintain executing non-disclosure agreements, clearance data and files, manages visitor admission and access lists, verifies citizenship, and coordinates visits requests.
  • SECURITY OPERATION SUPPORT
    • Support the MSO in security operations, ensuring compliance with procedures and government directives.
    • Perform base access reviews, visitor assistance, badge management, closing procedure, maintains security logs, key and lock programs, antiterrorism measures, emergency assistance, and travel briefs.
    • Support security training programs, the Access Control System (ACS), security container information, secure room access lists, and various security programs.
Location: Onsite at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA.

Typical Physical Activity: Mix of desk/computer work in an office environment and visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g. confined spaces, ladders, hatches), or vision.

Typical Pay Range: The anticipated pay for this position in the identified location(s) is $32.04/hour. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience. This position is covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA), and will additionally receive $5.09/hour in "health and welfare" benefits.

Existing SECRET Security Clearance Required: This position requires an existing active or interim Secret security clearance prior to hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position. A candidate without a clearance but with highly relevant experience may be considered, but still must obtain a clearance prior to hire.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of job-related experience in a Security Disciplines, including but not limited to the following Security Pillars:
    • Physical Security: Implementation and oversight of access control, surveillance systems, perimeter protection, and facility hardening.
    • Anti-Terrorism Measures: Risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and execution of force protection protocols.
    • Personnel Security: Conducting background investigations, managing clearance processes, and enforcing insider threat programs.
    • Industrial Security: Compliance with classified information handling procedures, safeguarding sensitive assets, and supporting Facility Security Officer (FSO) functions.
    • Military Security Functions: Base defense planning, convoy security, mission-critical asset protection, and tactical security operations.
    • Operations Security (OPSEC): Identification and protection of critical information, implementation of counterintelligence measures, and integration of OPSEC into planning and execution.
    • Incident Response and Threat Mitigation: Active participation in identifying, reporting, and resolving security breaches or suspicious activities.
  • Experience in applying conventional fact-finding, analytical, and problem-solving methods. Security experience with security systems administration, comprehension, and security administration skills, experience with Lenel or other electronic security system administration and comprehension, CCTV operation, watch standing.
  • Experience in Adobe, Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Defense Security Service (DSS), or Military Service Security Courses or Certifications, or other Security System Certifications
