Fire Protection Engineer

• Develops and reviews studies, scopes of work, design analyses, preliminary and final design plans, and specifications for all fire protection, fire detection, mass notification, and life safety features.
• Serves as the United States Army Garrison - Hawaii (USAG-HI) and Directorate of Public Works (DPW) technical authority and consultant on all Fire Prevention/Protection (FPP) engineering matters.
• Responsible for providing expert advice and engineering expertise on the interpretation of FPP policy directives and programs.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
• This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

Specialized Experience for GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes Designing Fire Protection systems, and reviewing designs, plans and specifications for fire protection systems; conducting pre-design surveys to obtain data for Fire Protection systems; participating in the testing of Fire Protection systems; and review Fire Protection systems for compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
