Description

ICF's Technology Ecosystem Alliances and Practices team is seeking a growth-oriented to support practice-wide pre-sales, solutioning, delivery advisory, and technology alliance initiatives across ICF's Appian portfolio.

This is a high-visibility, senior architect role for someone who can operate as a "Swiss army knife" across the Appian practice: leading technical solutioning for priority pursuits, shaping client conversations, building and guiding demos and proofs of value, advising delivery teams, supporting Appian license and pricing discussions, and helping mature reusable practice assets. The ideal candidate brings deep Appian delivery experience, strong federal market fluency, and the ability to move comfortably between hands-on solution development, executive-level advisory, and proposal/capture execution.

Initially, this role is expected to be weighted approximately , with flexibility to shift as delivery needs evolve.

The Senior Appian Practice Solution Architect will support ICF's Appian Practice growth strategy by leading technical solutioning for high-priority pursuits, shaping early-stage client engagements, developing reusable demo and proposal assets, and providing senior-level architecture support to delivery teams as needed.

This person will work closely with Appian Practice leadership, capture and business development teams, delivery executives, account leaders, Appian partner teams, and client stakeholders. The role requires a blend of hands-on technical credibility, federal consulting experience, pre-sales judgment, and the ability to translate complex client needs into practical, differentiated Appian-based solutions.

  • Lead Appian technical solutioning for priority federal pursuits, including RFIs, RFPs, oral presentations, technical volumes, demonstrations, proofs of concept, and proofs of value.
  • Support early-stage customer conversations by helping identify client needs, frame solution options, assess business value, and shape ICF's technical approach.
  • Own and maintain the Appian Practice demo, proof-of-value, and sandbox backlog, including reusable assets that can accelerate capture, sales, and client shaping activities.
  • Build, guide, and deliver tailored Appian demonstrations that showcase ICF's capabilities and align to specific client missions, pain points, and procurement requirements.
  • Partner with capture, BD, pricing, and delivery teams to develop technical approaches, staffing models, level-of-effort estimates, delivery assumptions, and transition plans.
  • Support Appian license, reseller, and pricing strategy conversations in partnership with ICF leadership and Appian account teams.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor to delivery programs, providing architecture guidance, solution reviews, delivery risk assessment, and support for complex implementation challenges.
  • Help mature Appian Practice standards, reusable solution patterns, accelerators, delivery playbooks, and proposal artifacts.
  • Collaborate with Appian partner teams to align on account priorities, solution themes, product direction, co-sell opportunities, and differentiated go-to-market motions.
  • Contribute to broader Technology Ecosystem Alliances initiatives where Appian intersects with adjacent platforms and partner technologies.
  • Support other practice area solution architects as needed, particularly where Appian can complement broader modernization, automation, AI, data, case management, and workflow strategies.
  • Stay current on Appian platform capabilities, federal market trends, competitive positioning, pricing constructs, and emerging technology patterns relevant to ICF's growth strategy.

  • 6+ years of technology leadership experience supporting major modernization, integration, workflow automation, case management, or platform-based application programs.
  • 5+ years of experience serving as a technical lead, solution architect, or senior architect on programs leveraging Appian.
  • 5+ years of experience leading Appian technical solutioning for pre-sales, capture, proposal, and client-shaping efforts.
  • 5+ years of experience with Appian solution architecture, including process models, records, data models, integrations, security, interfaces, deployment patterns, and enterprise delivery considerations.
  • 5+ years of experience developing or guiding Appian demos, proofs of concept, proofs of value, prototypes, or reusable solution accelerators.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting federal clients, federal capture efforts, or federal proposal environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs and mission requirements into compelling Appian-based technical solutions.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain federal public trust or clearance suitability as required by client engagements.

  • Ability to support both services solutioning and Appian license/pricing strategy discussions.
  • Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to brief senior leaders, facilitate client workshops, and present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous, fast-moving pursuit environments.
  • Appian Lead Developer certification strongly preferred.
  • Appian Senior Developer, Solution Architect, or equivalent advanced Appian experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in a pre-sales, solution consulting, capture solution architect, or growth-focused technical leadership role.
  • Experience contributing to or leading oral presentations, color team reviews, solution reviews, technical volume development, and pricing/BOE assumptions.
  • Familiarity with Appian licensing, reseller motions, partner sales strategy, or platform pricing constructs.
  • Experience supporting federal modernization programs across domains such as case management, grants, acquisition, health, transportation, regulatory, inspections, licensing, permitting, or AI-enabled workflow automation.
  • Experience with adjacent technologies such as AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, Salesforce, ServiceNow, MuleSoft, DocuSign, Power BI, Tableau, or other enterprise integration, data, automation, and analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery, DevSecOps, human-centered design, Section 508, FedRAMP, zero trust, and federal security/compliance requirements.
  • Experience building reusable practice assets, solution accelerators, demo environments, technical playbooks, or delivery governance frameworks.

The successful candidate should be able to make an immediate impact by:
  • Leading technical solutioning for 1-2 priority pursuits per month.
  • Establishing ownership of the Appian demo, sandbox, and proof-of-value backlog.
  • Developing or improving reusable pre-sales assets, including demo scripts, solution patterns, ROM/LOE assumptions, and proposal response content.
  • Building relationships with Appian Practice leadership, ICF capture and BD teams, Appian partner stakeholders, and key delivery leaders.
  • Providing targeted delivery advisory support to active Appian programs where senior architecture input is needed.
  • Helping define a repeatable engagement model for Appian pre-sales, demo, POV, and pursuit support.

  • The ideal candidate is a senior Appian architect who can move fluidly between whiteboard strategy, hands-on demo development, capture solutioning, delivery advisory, and executive-level client engagement. They are equally comfortable helping shape a pursuit, building a prototype, advising a delivery team, supporting a pricing conversation, or representing ICF's Appian capabilities in front of clients and partner teams.
  • This person should bring strong federal consulting judgment, deep Appian credibility, and the ability to help ICF scale its Appian Practice through repeatable assets, stronger pre-sales execution, and differentiated solution leadership.

East Coast location preferred. Candidate must be able to travel periodically to the Washington, DC area, ICF offices, client sites, Appian offices, and partner events as needed.
