Electronics Technician Maintenance III (two positions); CBA Rate $39.38/Hr

Non-Exempt; Regular Full-time

Eglin AFB, FL On Site

Reports to a supervisor, maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, operates, modifies, and installs various types of cameras and ancillary equipment. These functions may take place in laboratory, field, or Flight Line environments. Applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, in selecting tools, testing instruments, and is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. Knowledge and experience with flight line operations, procedures, and practices is a plus. Knowledge and experience with aircraft maintenance documentation procedures and processes is a plus. Experience and knowledge operating flight line type equipment (Start carts, GPUs, loaders, etc.) is a plus. May be required to obtain flight line credentials. Work may require operating in close proximity to aircraft including cockpit. Configuring and programming multi-camera arrays in preparation for mission support is required. Will be required to work overtime and weekends as needed. Required to use and wear appropriate safety equipment.


  • The Electronics Technician, Maintenance III applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
  • Must be qualified to operate; maintain; repair; and modify complex state of the art electronic, electro-optical and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Must be systems oriented and have the ability and knowledge to consolidate component sub-systems and assemblies into a workable system.
  • Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, installing wiring in aircraft for T2 Modifications, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.
  • Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices.
  • Will usually be required to provide guidance, training, and work direction to lower-level technicians.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and shift work.
  • May be required to work offshore to support maritime mission requirements.
  • Optics associated with laser and camera systems a plus.


Job Requirements

Other functions include assisting in the orientation and training of other technicians at this level when directed by the supervisor. May be assigned additional responsibilities as a lead technician. Will perform general housekeeping and other job-related tasks. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste.

Must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics and have five years' experience as an Electronic Technician. Must possess a general knowledge of electronic component characteristics to aid in the selection of replacement components and devices. Knowledge of other trades such as the mechanical skills necessary to repair and modify servo systems, pedestal-drive systems, waveguide installations, and optics associated with laser and camera systems a plus. Must be thoroughly familiar with the operation of test instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, frequency measuring equipment, and other related measurement instruments.

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. May be required to obtain flight line credentials.

May perform work assignments in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Some tasks and assignments such as the installation; operation; and maintenance of mobile systems, aircraft systems, or range instrumentation will require work performance in outside environments in heat or cold with exposure to the conditions typical of various work locations. Some work assignments could be at Temporary Duty Stations (TDYs) or on maritime vessels.

Required to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, or carry heavy items.
