Tactical Datalinks Engineer V (Two Positions); Salary TBD
Exempt; Regular Full-Time
: DTF Bldg. 85, Eglin AFB, FL
Works with Test Engineers (TE's) in designing and configuring test architects for developmental, operational, and exercise test events; assists with data collection for the post technical reports. Works and operates associated tactical datalink equipment within an independent operation or facility. Responsible for associated development, operation and maintenance of various complex computer hardware configurations, software applications, and/or network designs, installation, and maintenance.
- Duties include the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and operating various electronic equipment & computers in a government run lab.
- A strong background in tactical datalink equipment is highly desired. Will be required to work Link-16, SADL, and other datalinks waveforms & applications.
- Will set-up test equipment, assist and execute test scripts, run test procedures, interpret block diagrams, and collect data for Test Engineers.
- Will be required to run software applications and perform computer troubleshooting diagnosis to establish connectivity between multiple host systems over IP, serial, SATCOM and JREAP protocols.
- Will be required to work with RF datalink radios, crypto, equipment and datalink software to establish datalink networks.
- Must also be capable of performing assignments that require resolving of complex problems which cannot typically be resolved using established procedures or vendors manuals.
- Will be required to work with crypto to load radios of various types using a SKL on a daily basis.
- Will be required to operate Starlink & SATCOM radios and establish secure communications connections.
- Duties will include setting mobile comm vans, set-up RF antennas, and run datalink equipment at test sites.
- Duties will require occasionally working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Will be required to obtain flight line badge and work daily with COMSEC & CCI material.
- Supports ETTC operational objectives.
- Overtime will be required.
- Occasional TDY will be required, must have good vocal skills, and work in a group/team environment.
Job Requirements
Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas. Work may require overtime and travel will be required, must have good vocal skills, and be able to work in a group/team environment.
Applicant must be a technical or service school graduate in electronics, avionics or radio communications with four years applicable experience. Computer hardware & software skills required. Experience with both Windows 10 & 11 operating systems required. Network protocol experience required. Must be experienced in building IP & serial connections between computers & networks. Must be able to use test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers. Familiar with RF radios MIDS-JTRS, PRC-117G & SADL desired. Knowledge in datalink JREAP protocols A/B/C required. Working knowledge of SATCOM, STARLINK, MUOS, SATURN desired. Familiarization with Link-16 desired. A working knowledge of Link-22 is highly desired. Working knowledge of crypto & Simple Key Loader (SKL) required. Experience with datalink software applications and tools is highly desired.
Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas. Must be available for travel. Must be capable of working with limited supervision. Good vocal skills and working in a team environment. This position requires a Secret security clearance. Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company quality, safety, environmental, security and administrative policies; supports process improvements.
Work assignments can be both indoor and outdoor under various environmental conditions. Duties will require occasionally working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
