Job Description
Able to work independently to solve unique problems and provide expertise, often in highly specialized or focused areas. Provide support for the complex guided munitions simulations to include but not limited to analysis, design, installation, operation, maintenance and evaluation of mechanical, electromechanical, and hydraulic devices, equipment, systems, and fixtures for HITL simulations. All of which are required to interface, adapt, and mount test items and simulation equipment comprising complex instrumentation systems in an HITL simulation configuration. Must have the ability to provide innovative designs and solutions. Design major mechanical, hydraulic and electromechanical systems and system components and make major design modifications for simulation area installations. Analyze data from proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of a design or application. Perform static and dynamic analysis of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
Provide technical analysis of mechanical systems, including analysis of torques, flexures, bending moments, stresses and strains, velocities, and acceleration. Must be proficient and lead in the design and modification of mechanical interfaces and enclosures for miniature electronic and fiber optic devices of domestic and foreign guidance units. Design, fabricate, and install products or systems, including instruments, controls, machines, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, heat transfer systems and optical instrumentation such as lenses, image projection systems and complex optical mounts for projection systems, and lenses. Must be proficient and able to provide design documentation by use of PC-based Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools. Support preparation of technical reports and correspondence. Provide technical guidance and oversight for other field engineers and technicians conducting similar activities. Provide technical guidance for engineers and analysts working in HITL simulation facilities. Set up, program, and operate lathes, drill presses, milling machines, CNC, and other precision tools. Work at heights above ground level on ladders and/or scaffolding. Perform metal inert gas (MIG) and tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding and silver soldering. Not required to provide security support.
: Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.
Job Requirements
Associate degree or Training certificates in electronics, engineering, machining, or mechanics from trade schools, colleges, military, etc. Must have a minimum of fifteen years' experience in analysis, design, installation, operation, maintenance and evaluation of mechanical, electromechanical, and hydraulic devices, equipment, and systems including general laboratory equipment, specialized hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric motion system.
: This position requires a Top-Secret security clearance. Candidates may have a Secret clearance that has been adjudicated within the last 5 years. Must meet requirements to operate in enhanced security environments.
: Work activities are normally performed in an environmentally controlled area.
: This position will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and requires very little lifting or moving of heavy objects or materials and require very little lifting or moving of heavy objects or materials.
