Job Description



  • Performs as Electrical Engineer as defined by directives and policies, for electrical engineering related construction projects.
  • Prepares criteria, scopes of work, prepares engineered designs, plans, specifications and final construction cost estimates.
  • Evaluates project data to insure that completed construction will provide a properly operating facility with a minimum of operational and maintenance cost, and verifies incorporation of proven design criteria.
  • Responsible to provide technical staff assistance, guidance and surveillance on all electrical engineering aspects for Directorate of Public Works programs.





  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license.
  • This position requires you to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • This position requires incumbent to work in confined space areas and around hazardous materials.
  • This position requires incumbent to work outside and inside in heat, cold, excessive humidity, excessive dampness or chilling weather and work alone and closely with others.

Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing electrical engineering designs, plans, and specifications for construction projects, developing construction cost estimates for electrical systems, developing construction cost estimates and scopes of work for electrical system, and conducting facility electrical inspections. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
