Job Description
- You will ensure deployed submarines have the lowest possible UEM signature to support execution of operational plans.
- You will provide technical guidance and recommendations on UEM signatures and signature reduction systems.
- You will be required to use extensive technical knowledge to advise the submarine force TYCOMs on all aspects of material condition, signature measurement, and signature management.
- You will brief senior officials at NAVSEA/COMSUBLANT/COMSUBPAC/Submarine Stealth Integration Project Office on issues affecting materiel condition of signature reduction systems, measurement requirements and limits, and management events.
- You will coordinate with multiple organizations including the Fleet, NAVSEA headquarters, Navy warfare centers, and Electric Boat.
- You will work closely with Division 75 senior leadership to identify issues and resolutions affecting the submarine force.
- You will act as the alternate UEM stealth advisor to Commander, Submarine Forces, Atlantic (COMSUBLANT) or Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMSUBPAC).
- You will coordinate with magnetic silencing facility (MSF) personnel and program manager to ensure routine submarine UEM signature measurements are taken, analyzed, and reported.
- You will recommend submarines for magnetic treatment and coordinate with MSF to accomplish.
- You will act as the submarine force liaison for VIRGINIA-Class (VACL) new construction, backfit, and life cycle trials.

- This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role: Engineering/Technical management, proficiency, Basic. The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer providing technical input to support fleet operations; coordinating and communicating at a high level among different naval commands and stakeholders on stealth-related matters; assessing Underwater Electromagnetic system data to identify deficiencies and corrective actions; and applying procedures related to signature maintenance and management.

ENGINEERING SERIES (08XX):
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
