SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST (FIRE SAFETY OFFICER)

• You will serve as the technical expert in specialized areas related to occupational safety and health issues for MARMC.
• You will be responsible for managing all assigned Occupational Safety and Health Programs and ensure compliance with the Occupational, Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Act.
• You will provide recommendations to management relative to projected safety and occupational health laws and requirements, which could impact MARMC technical and facility posture as it pertains to accomplishment of project workload.
• You will conduct unplanned event/mishap investigations on shipboard fire related incidents and completes a detailed report that will be provided to the Safety Manager.

• This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Experience implementing and overseeing assigned safety and health programs with minimal supervision and ensures all records are maintained in accordance with applicable requirements, incorporates requirements of regulations to mitigate workplace hazards.
• Experience reviewing submitted plans for compliance with safety, health, fire protection, and environmental requirements and provides recommendations for revisions to ensure regulatory compliance is achieved.
• Experience developing and delivering course material to promote safety awareness throughout the facility and satisfy regulatory requirements.
• Experience conducting independent accident / incident investigations to determine contributing factors and proposes / implements corrective actions to leadership.
• Experience collecting and analyzing safety trends and metrics to highlight areas requiring additional oversight and presents findings to leadership.
• Experience with shipboard damage control, fire safety principles, and firefighting practices (ship and shore-based).
• Experience with regulations and standards from Navy, NAVSEA, CNRMC, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), and the FEMA National Incident Management System.
• Experience with Navy tag-outs, work authorization, ship drawings, and technical documents.
• Experience utilizing OPNAV Instructions and NAVSEA Technical Manuals related to fire safety and OSHA.
