ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR)

• You will develop process improvement that improve reliability, safety, workflow, cost, and schedule performance.
• You will work independently, or act as lead for a team of engineering technicians and engineers.
• You will observe execution of nuclear work and provide on-site technical support.
• You will prepare quality and detailed written technical direction to accomplish nuclear work from cradle to grave.
• You will evaluate critical attributes of assigned nuclear work and perform risk assessments.
• You will contact planning yards, prime contractors, or other technical authorities and proposed alternative methods of solutions, if requirements cannot be met.
• You will research and review source documents, engineering drawings, manuals, references, databases, guidelines instructions, regulation, standards, and other technical information to verify status and requirements.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Relocation expenses (i.e. PCS) may be authorized in accordance with applicable travel regulations.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and interpreting technical engineering work documents to assist in identifying nuclear material and resolving nuclear material deficiencies in support of ship or submarine repair or conversion projects .

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
