The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Spring, CO is searching for an Engineering Manager to support the MD4 SNP (NH-0855-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).

Description:
The MD4/4STS, Overhead Persistent Infared Sustainment Squadron, is seeking an Electronics Engineer to plan, organize, direct, and coordinate significant and complex projects in the Sustainment of Satellites, Command and Control, and Data Processing Systems which represent critical segments of major operating programs. Performs electronics engineering work involved in the management of the sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and support equipment. Functions as the organization's technical specialist in leading a team to develop a system's performance requirements, objectives, integration, and testing. Provides estimation of time and resources needed for a project's system design, development, and support phases. Performs complex and comprehensive analysis and uses systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to implement, develop, and document projects. Serves as a consultant and technical expert to senior subject matter specialists and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations.

Ideal Candidate:
Engineering experience with Computer Hardware/Software and Networking, Satellites and/or Command & Control (C2) systems. Proficient in the application of electronics, mechanical, aerospace, astronautical, or other engineering disciplines. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and independently as a self-starter. Capability to direct and lead technical teams to drive to common goal. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conceive and define solutions to complex problems. Strong knowledge of engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods. Effective communication skills are essential for communicating with diverse groups of stakeholders.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited institution.

Knowledge, Skill & Abilities:
1. Knowledge of professional electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
2. Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
3. Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices.
4. Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management principles, concepts, policies, and systems; of standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and of other engineering disciplines.
5. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.




  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, "confidential Financial Disclosure Report." Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS / relocation funding is available and may be offered.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 20 days per year.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
  • This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
