Software Engineer
Location: College Park, MD / Hybrid Remote
Pay: $132.50/hr W2 OR $157/hr 1099
Contract: 12 months
Clearance: Active Secret required

Overview
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join a defense-focused engineering team supporting modern software design, API development, DevSecOps practices, and real-time/combat system projects. This role is hybrid remote based in College Park, MD and requires an active Secret clearance.

The ideal candidate will have strong full-stack development experience with React, C++, Java, API development, Linux/WSL, containerized deployments, CI/CD, and AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and enhance frontend user interfaces using React, including hooks, functional components, and state management libraries
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services
• Implement responsive UI components and follow UI/UX best practices
• Integrate frontend components with design systems and backend APIs
• Apply modern software design patterns and UI frameworks
• Develop, test, and deploy code in Linux/WSL environments
• Support containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes
• Write and maintain automated UI tests
• Collaborate in Agile development environments
• Participate in code reviews and team-based software engineering activities

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Active Secret clearance required
• Proficiency with C++ and Java
• Hands-on frontend development experience with React
• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining APIs
• Working knowledge of DevSecOps practices
• Experience with Agile development, CI/CD, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Experience with automated testing tools
• Comfortable using IDEs and development tools such as VSCode, Eclipse, or NetBeans
• Proficiency developing, building, and debugging applications in Linux/WSL environments
• Practical experience with AWS services
• Ability to work in a hybrid remote environment based in College Park, MD

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Cosmos or similar mission planning / analysis tools
• Experience with real-time or combat systems and associated performance constraints
• Cybersecurity experience
• Defense or mission systems software development experience
