Job Summary: Systems Engineer / Product Owner - Military Aircraft Support Systems About the Role: Apex Systems is seeking a dynamic Systems Engineer/Product Owner to drive software development and sustainment for advanced military aircraft support systems. Join our innovative team supporting the F-22 Sustainment project and Sikorsky in Fort Worth, TX. This role blends systems engineering, requirements management, product ownership, and Agile leadership to deliver mission-critical capabilities within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities: - Lead and prioritize product backlogs, user stories, features, and acceptance criteria to ensure timely software delivery. - Translate and decompose customer requirements into actionable system and software requirements using DOORS and Cameo. - Develop, review, and maintain systems engineering documentation such as CWPs, ICDs, IDDs, and requirements specifications. - Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) initiatives, creating and updating SysML models in Cameo Systems Modeler. - Maintain requirements traceability across DOORS and MBSE models, ensuring integration and synchronization with verification artifacts and RTVMs. - Conduct model reviews, requirements analysis, and architecture assessments for consistency and completeness. - Collaborate daily with software developers, database engineers, architects, testers, customers, and leadership to achieve program goals. - Facilitate Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. - Engage in Program Increment (PI) Planning including feature prioritization, dependency management, risk assessments, and capacity planning. - Identify, communicate, and coordinate resolutions for technical issues, risks, dependencies, and blockers. - Support software integration involving APIs, databases, and external system connections. - Participate in technical reviews, customer demos, and release planning activities. Required Skills and Experience: - Expertise in DOORS for requirements management and validation. - Proficiency with Cameo and Model-Based Systems Engineering. - Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and use of Jira. - Hands-on experience creating and managing CWPs, ICDs, IDDs, and requirements specifications. - Strong capability in use cases, high/low requirements, and model integration. - Familiarity with APIs and software integration practices. - Experience with migration from Solaris to RHEL environments. - Active or obtainable DoD SECRET security clearance. - Ability to work onsite Monday - Thursday, 10-hour days (enjoy long weekends with Fridays off). Preferred Skills: - Experience supporting military or defense projects, especially F-22 Sustainment or Sikorsky. - Knowledge of SDLC best practices in defense environments.
