Support the development of next-generation radar systems by maintaining the engineering configuration baseline and technical data package throughout the product lifecycle. Join a multidisciplinary engineering organization developing advanced national defense capabilities while ensuring engineering drawings, technical documentation, and product data accurately reflect system designs from concept through production.
- Develop, maintain, and release engineering drawings, technical specifications, and as-built documentation supporting advanced radar system development.
- Create and modify detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using industry-standard CAD software.
- Ensure engineering documentation complies with ASME drafting standards, organizational procedures, and customer requirements.
- Review completed engineering drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensional integrity, tolerance compliance, and configuration consistency.
- Identify design discrepancies, documentation deficiencies, and engineering conflicts while recommending improvements to engineering layouts and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, systems, manufacturing, and configuration management teams to maintain an accurate engineering configuration baseline.
- Generate and maintain indentured parts lists, bill of materials (BOMs), drawing hierarchies, and product structures supporting system configuration management.
- Support Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes by managing engineering data, revision control, product releases, and technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle.
- Maintain engineering change documentation and support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Assist engineering teams in establishing configuration management processes that support design maturity, manufacturing readiness, and production transitions.
- Develop technical illustrations and engineering graphics supporting manufacturing, integration, maintenance, and technical publications.
- Coordinate with production and manufacturing organizations to ensure released engineering documentation accurately reflects production hardware.
- Participate in engineering design reviews, peer reviews, configuration audits, and technical baseline reviews.
- Support engineering investigations involving design verification, hardware integration, manufacturing issues, and production improvements.
- Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives that enhance engineering documentation quality, configuration management, and product lifecycle efficiency.
- Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Design, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline with 2 years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.
- Active DoD Secret security clearance required at the time of application.
- Experience using 3D CAD modeling software including Siemens NX, PTC Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience creating engineering drawings compliant with ASME drafting and documentation standards.
- Experience using illustration software including Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Adobe Fresco, or similar technical illustration tools.
- Experience generating indentured parts lists, product structures, and engineering drawing hierarchies.
- Experience establishing, maintaining, and controlling engineering configuration baselines.
- Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), mechanical analysis, and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience utilizing Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems such as Siemens Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia, ARAS, or similar enterprise engineering platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze both detailed component-level designs and system-level engineering configurations.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% in support of engineering and program requirements.
- Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or another STEM discipline.
- Extensive experience using Siemens Teamcenter for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and configuration management.
- Experience supporting engineering drawings, technical documentation, and configuration management throughout the complete product development lifecycle.
- Experience supporting design verification, engineering validation, and verification reporting activities.
- Experience designing and modeling mechanical hardware interfaces including mounting hardware, brackets, structural supports, and mechanical assemblies.
- Experience supporting cable routing, cable assemblies, RF interconnects, fiber optic systems, and associated installation requirements.
- Experience integrating and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems within laboratory or production environments.
- Knowledge of engineering test planning, test execution, and verification methodologies.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense or government contracting programs.
- Experience supporting U.S. Air Force radar systems, sensor systems, or related defense technologies.
- Experience utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) engineering assistants for CAD model generation, design automation, or drafting support.
- Familiarity with U.S. Air Force Technical Orders (TOs) and military technical documentation standards.
- Experience working within Agile, Scrum, DevOps, or modern product development environments.
