Job Description
Lyntris is a defense technology company that connects sensing to action across the connected battlespace. Lyntris brings together the talents of Accelint and Vitesse teams under one mission, with each contributing deep expertise within their domain. Combining differentiated hardware, software and mission expertise, Lyntris helps customers sense threats, make sense of complex conditions and act with greater speed, precision and confidence in contested environments.
Lyntris supports U.S. and allied defense organizations across every branch - including Navy, Army, Air Force, Space Force and allied partners - spanning strategic, operational and tactical missions and every domain: Space, Air, Land, Sea and Cyber. With more than 200 active defense programs, Lyntris works at every level of the mission, from national command authority to the tactical edge.
Solutions are designed by operators who understand the mission, engineered for the conditions that degrade or defeat standard systems, and built on an open, modular architecture that integrates into existing programs without requiring them to start over. Lyntris moves faster than the traditional defense cycle - with integrated design, build and test capabilities in-house - and delivers systems that sustain and endure long after initial fielding.
We are seeking an experienced Government Reference Implementation (GRI) Software Engineer to develop production-quality software that implements Government Reference Architectures for autonomy and mission-critical defense systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in C++ software development, distributed systems, and modern DevOps practices, with experience translating Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts into interoperable software components. This role will work closely with systems engineers, architects, autonomy engineers, and government stakeholders to deliver standards-based software implementations that validate architecture designs, support interoperability, and enable the integration of advanced mission capabilities.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain production-quality software implementing Government Reference Architectures for defense and mission-critical systems.
- Develop high-performance software applications using C++ while following software engineering best practices.
- Translate MBSE artifacts, including SysML and Cameo models, into functional software components and standards-based implementations.
- Implement APIs, data models, and software interfaces derived from Interface Control Documents (ICDs), architecture models, and system requirements.
- Develop and maintain software supporting distributed systems utilizing messaging frameworks such as ActiveMQ, DDS, ZeroMQ, or similar technologies.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, software architects, autonomy engineers, and government stakeholders to validate architecture implementation, interoperability, and system performance.
- Participate in software integration, verification, validation, and interoperability testing activities.
- Develop and maintain automated build, test, and deployment pipelines utilizing modern DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
- Utilize automated code quality, static analysis, containerization, and testing tools to ensure software reliability and maintainability.
- Support software documentation, technical design reviews, code reviews, and configuration management activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of software development processes, architecture implementation, and engineering best practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience developing production-quality software.
- Strong proficiency in C++ software development.
- Experience with modern DevOps tools and practices, including GitLab CI/CD, SonarQube, automated testing, and containerized development environments.
- Experience developing software for large-scale distributed systems utilizing messaging frameworks such as ActiveMQ, DDS, ZeroMQ, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts and experience translating SysML or Cameo models into software implementations.
- Experience collaborating with systems engineers, architects, autonomy engineers, and government stakeholders to validate software architecture implementation and interoperability.
- Experience with one or more of the following domains:
- Autonomy and robotics integration
- Mission planning
- Task allocation
- Command-and-control architectures
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Currently holds an active U.S. national security clearance.
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience developing software for defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical systems.
- Experience implementing standards-based APIs, data models, and interfaces derived from Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and SysML architecture models.
- Knowledge of software verification and validation, integration testing, systems integration, and requirements traceability.
- Proficiency in additional programming languages such as Java, Python, or TypeScript.
- Experience using Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and containerized software development environments.
- Experience working with rootless Podman container environments.
- Familiarity with open systems architectures, digital engineering initiatives, or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) workflows.
- Active-duty military experience.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
