We are seeking a highly motivated Cyber Security Systems Engineer to support the design, implementation, hardening, and sustainment of secure mission systems across both CONUS and OCONUS environments.
This role requires strong technical expertise in systems engineering, cybersecurity, infrastructure security, automation, and DevSecOps practices. The ideal candidate will support secure architecture development, system accreditation activities, continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, and automation of security controls within CI/CD pipelines.
The Cyber Systems Engineer will work closely with software engineers, infrastructure teams, customer representatives, security architects, program leadership, and operational users to ensure mission systems remain secure, resilient, and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement secure system architectures for enterprise and mission-critical environments.
• Apply cybersecurity engineering principles across the full system lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, verification, deployment, and sustainment.
• Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities including control implementation, assessment, evidence collection, and ATO accreditation and sustainment.
• Perform security hardening of operating systems, applications, databases, and network devices in accordance with applicable security baselines (e.g., STIGs, CIS, vendor hardening guides).
• Develop and maintain system security documentation including RMF artifacts such as SSPs, architecture diagrams, SCTM, and POA&M.
• Identify security gaps and propose remediation strategies to reduce cyber risk.
• Support vulnerability management processes including scanning, triage, prioritization, and remediation tracking.
• Implement and maintain DevSecOps pipelines integrating automated security testing and compliance validation.
• Integrate tools such as SAST, DAST, container scanning, IaC scanning, and software composition analysis into CI/CD workflows.
• Automate security control validation and compliance reporting using scripting and infrastructure automation tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure software delivery and continuous compliance.
• Support incident response, remediation efforts, engineering roadmaps, and cyber resilience planning when required.
• Travel or deploy to CONUS and OCONUS locations based on mission requirements.

This position is based out of King of Prussia, PA or Colorado Springs, CO and the willingness to deploy OCONUS

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related STEM discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum 9+ years of experience in cybersecurity, systems engineering, information assurance or relevant experience
• Experience securing Linux and/or Windows operating systems in enterprise or mission environments.
• Experience with Automation tools specifically Ansible and familiarity with deployment automation
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as the following and associated documentation:
o NIST SP 800-53
o NIST 800-171
• Experience with vulnerability scanning and remediation tools.
• Experience with scripting languages and automation tools
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (or higher, as required).
• Possess an approved DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT Level II (CISSP, CAP, etc.)
• Experience supporting DoD weapon systems, aviation platforms, or classified mission systems.
• Experience with Containerization technologies to include Kubernetes and Openshift
• Experience with Virtualization platforms/hypervisors
• Experience implementing container security and Kubernetes hardening.
• Familiarity with SIEM Tools deployment and administration specifically ArcSight
• Experience with Zero Trust architecture and cyber resiliency engineering.
• Experience supporting environmental handling:
o Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
o Air-gapped or disconnected systems

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $150,800 - $265,880. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
