Job Description

D9TECH RESOURCES, LLC
SDVOSB | SBA 8(a) | Cleared Federal & Department of Defense Support

System Support Specialist
IT & Interior Communications | Berthing & Messing Program
Location: Hampton Roads, VA (Norfolk, Portsmouth, Newport News area)
Clearance: Active or interim Secret required at start of performance
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required
Work Setting: On-site and shipboard, aboard marine craft in an active shipyard
Type & Level: Full-time | Mid-level (5+ years of relevant experience)

About the Role
D9Tech Resources is hiring a System Support Specialist to serve as the information technology and interior communications subject matter expert aboard the Navy's duty crew berthing barges. You will install, maintain, and repair the voice and non-voice communication systems that keep each craft operational for the crews it houses. The work is hands-on and shipboard, and it ranges widely, from telephone key systems one day to alarm circuits and local area network cabling the next.
This is the role for someone who likes to own the communications and IT lifeline of a vessel from end to end. You will be the person the crew turns to when a system needs to be stood up, kept running, or brought back after a fault, and you will document the work so the next hand knows exactly what was done.

What You Will Do
• Install, troubleshoot, program, maintain, modify, and repair voice and non-voice communication systems, including switching equipment, consoles, relay racks, radios, intercom and public address systems, alarm systems, and telephone key systems.
• Run cable and wire to telephone sets, terminal connectors, lugs, pins, and screws, and terminate the equipment associated with non-voice circuits and local area network data circuits.
• Repair or replace damaged and deteriorated telephone and telecommunication wiring from the pier-side connection point onto the craft, including telephone jacks.
• Support general electrical inspection, maintenance, and repair of shipboard electrical equipment such as distribution panels, outlets, switches, wiring, lighting fixtures, and power cords.
• Test units and systems after repair to confirm proper operation, and document your work in accordance with program maintenance procedures.
Required Qualifications
• U.S. citizen, able to obtain and hold a Secret clearance, with an active or interim clearance in place when performance begins.
• Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting voice and data communication systems, along with general IT support.
• Working knowledge of telephone key systems, LAN cabling, intercom and public address systems, and alarm or interior communication systems.
• Ability to read and apply technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Comfortable working aboard marine craft in an active shipyard, and able to comply with OSHA shipyard employment standards (29 CFR 1915) and related safety directives.

Preferred Qualifications
• Associate degree in information technology, electronics, or a related field, or equivalent technical training, consistent with the System Support Specialist occupational standard.
• Prior experience supporting Navy, marine, or other maritime communication systems.
Compensation
This is a Service Contract Act covered position. Pay starts at the applicable Department of Labor wage determination rate, and D9Tech can offer above that starting rate based on a candidate's years of relevant experience. Overtime is paid at one and one half times the base rate for hours worked beyond forty in a week.
• Hampton Roads, VA: starting at $28.83 per hour, about $60,000 per year at full time.
Schedule & Work Environment
Regular hours are 0700 to 1530, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. Overtime, including weekends and holidays, may be required on short notice. All work is performed on-site and shipboard within an active shipyard, so the ability to move about marine craft and work safely in that environment is essential.
