About the Role
*** is seeking an Engineering Design 2 to support our Tooling department. This role is based onsite in El Segundo, CA, and offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge programs across land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace.

Key Responsibilities
Design industrial tooling including dies, gauges, drill & assembly jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments
Develop tooling concepts and support equipment for new and existing programs
Create engineering drawings, inspection requirements, and verification plans
Review designs for manufacturability, fit, form, and function
Develop layouts of complex assemblies and detailed parts
Ensure compliance with GD&T standards, specifications, and drafting practices
Identify and mitigate safety risks in alignment with company and regulatory standards
Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams
Manage tooling projects including cost, schedule, procurement, and fabrication
Review and validate drawings for clarity, completeness, and accuracy
Support vendor fabrication and inspect tooling for drawing compliance
Participate in root cause analysis, non-conformance investigations, and process improvements
Drive continuous improvement initiatives
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
Minimum 2+ years of relevant engineering/design experience
Experience with NX CAD and/or CATIA
Strong understanding of manufacturing, fabrication processes, and machine shop practices
Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018) and drawing weld symbols
Experience with drawing release criteria, including dimensional accuracy and standards compliance
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail
Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in aerospace manufacturing environments
Background in tooling design and fabrication (especially for composite parts)
Experience evaluating vendor capabilities for tooling production
Familiarity with PLM systems
Experience with stress analysis (hand calculations, FEMAP/NASTRAN)
Project estimation and tooling SOW development experience
Professional Engineering (PE) License
Active DoD Secret Clearance (within last 5 years)
