PHYSICAL SECURITY SUPPORT SPECIALIST

POSITION OVERVIEW


The Physical Security Support Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day physical security posture of SCIF AF11-007 and its subordinate facilities supporting the 89th ATKS at Ellsworth AFB. This position ensures accredited SCIF construction, alarm systems, access controls, and security containers remain fully compliant and mission-capable, and manages the reaccreditation, inspection, and modification-approval processes required by DIA and ACC/SSO. The role serves as the primary liaison with Ellsworth AFB security stakeholders, including unit security managers, 28th Bomb Wing Security Forces Squadron, and AFOSI, on all physical security matters, and is responsible for the maintenance, testing, and documentation needed to sustain SCIF operational readiness. Physical Security Support staff must maintain compliance with ICD 705 and applicable DoD, Air Force, and Intelligence Community Directive requirements governing physical security programs.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Execute visitor control procedures for SCIF AF11-007 and any applicable subordinate SCIFs.

  • Coordinate directly with ACC/SSO and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) to manage and complete the reaccreditation process for SCIF AF11-007 and subordinate SCIFs.

  • Inspect and monitor all aspects of accredited SCIF physical construction. Identify and immediately report facility discrepancies (e.g., door malfunctions, degraded weather-stripping allowing light transfer) to the COR and facility managers for repair.

  • Update and maintain the Fixed Facility Checklist (FFC) and TEMPEST addendum checklists.

  • Validate all SCIF changes or modifications are allowed within Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and ACC/SSO guidelines and approved by DIA Discretionary Access Control (DAC)-2A2.

  • Update and maintain the unit's SCIF Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Action Procedures (EAPs) regarding physical security.

  • Execute and log monthly random physical security inspections.

  • Execute and log quarterly alarm tests and officially notify 28 BW/SFS upon completion.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with Ellsworth Security Offices regarding physical SCIF AF11-007 operations, unit security managers, and AFOSI.

  • Manage the unit alarm monitoring program for all assigned 89th AKTS Facilities and applicable subordinate SCIFs.

  • Update and maintain the physical unit badge roster and Alarmed Facility Access Authorization (AFAA) MFR for all assigned 89th AKTS Facilities.

  • Execute the maintenance and disposal of physical SCI material in accordance with ICDs, DoD manuals, and ACC/SSO guidance.

  • Facilitate and participate in internal and external physical security inspections for SCIF AF11-007 and subordinate SCIFs.

  • Draft and submit annual physical security reports to ACC/SSO.

  • Ensure Contractor personnel complete SSO-directed computer-based training within 30 days of start date.

  • Ensure all Physical Security support staff are fully trained and compliant with ICD 705 for Physical Security.

  • Execute all required inspections and operational tests for the IDS/ADS alarm system for all assigned 89th AKTS facilities. Ensure the system remains in a fully mission-capable state and coordinate maintenance actions with Base authorities.

  • Program, update, and maintain security codes in IDS/ADS, cypher locks, X-09 or newer locks.

  • Maintain and audit SF-700s (Security Container Information), SF-701s (Activity Security Checklist), and SF-702s (Security Container Check sheet) for all containers located within the SCIF.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Active TS/SCI Security Clearance

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a TS/SCI facility

  • At least one (1) year of dedicated experience in physical security (e.g., SCIF management, alarms, access control).

  • Technical Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and DOD/AF security databases.
