Cloud/DevOps Engineer
Project Overview
We are developing an Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) program that will design, develop, and implement a scalable, repeatable, automated, and enterprise-wide framework for evaluating the quality, accuracy, and mission utility of GEOINT products. The framework will support imagery, geospatial data, 3D GEOINT, mapping products, and future GEOINT data types by providing standardized methodologies for automated testing, metric generation, data storage, visualization, and reporting.
The successful candidate will be part of a team to support the design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of the enterprise IV&V platform while collaborating with Government stakeholders to evaluate existing GEOINT IV&V capabilities, implement automated verification processes, and deliver secure, scalable software solutions.
Role Overview
The Cloud & DevOps Engineer will design, implement, automate, and maintain the cloud infrastructure, development platform, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines supporting an enterprise Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) framework. This position will ensure the platform is scalable, secure, reliable, and capable of supporting automated evaluation of GEOINT products, including imagery, geospatial data, mapping products, and 3D GEOINT datasets.
Working closely with software developers, system engineers, and Government stakeholders, the Cloud & DevOps Engineer will develop cloud-native infrastructure, automate application deployment, manage containerized services, and integrate security, monitoring, and performance optimization throughout the software development lifecycle. The engineer will enable rapid delivery of new IV&V capabilities while maintaining compliance with cybersecurity and enterprise architecture requirements.
Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and maintain secure cloud-native infrastructure supporting the enterprise GEOINT IV&V platform.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management of cloud resources.
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated software builds, testing, security scanning, and deployments.
Deploy and administer containerized applications using Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, or similar container orchestration platforms.
Automate software delivery, infrastructure management, configuration management, and operational workflows using industry-standard DevOps tools and scripting languages.
Integrate automated security scanning, vulnerability assessment, and DevSecOps practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
Configure and maintain cloud networking, storage, compute resources, identity management, and access controls.
Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational dashboards to ensure system availability, performance, and reliability.
Support deployment and management of enterprise data services supporting GEOINT metric collection, storage, visualization, and analytics.
Optimize cloud resource utilization, system performance, scalability, and operational costs.
Collaborate with software engineers to support development, testing, and deployment of automated GEOINT IV&V capabilities.
Support integration of commercial GEOINT data sources, research products, evaluation tools, APIs, and visualization services into the enterprise platform.
Develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures, deployment guides, and system configuration documentation.
Support system integration, testing, troubleshooting, accreditation activities, and transition to operations.
Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical reviews, and demonstrations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline and 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a related field and 7 years of relevant experience.
NGA domain experience with development or deployment into CORE and/or RLE. (CORE highly preferred).
Experience designing, implementing, and administering enterprise cloud environments using Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Experience developing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or equivalent automation frameworks.
Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar technologies.
Experience deploying and administering containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar orchestration platforms.
Experience with DevSecOps practices, automated security scanning, and secure software delivery pipelines.
Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages.
Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana, CloudWatch, or equivalent technologies.
Experience with Linux system administration, networking, identity and access management, storage, and cloud security services.
Experience troubleshooting distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and application deployment issues.
Experience supporting Agile software development teams and modern software engineering practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare technical documentation and present technical solutions to Government stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with cloud-native data processing architectures supporting large-scale imagery or geospatial data workflows.
Experience supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST 800-53, ICD 503, Authority to Operate (ATO), or Authority to Develop (ATD) processes.
AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Red Hat OpenShift Administration, or comparable cloud certifications.
