This engineer will take ownership of ASTRO 25 infrastructure, MCC7500 dispatch consoles, and subscriber programming, ensuring interoperability, coverage, and operational reliability in high-security environments.

- Develop, manage, and deploy code plugs and fleetmaps for subscriber radios (portable, mobile, and control stations) using Radio Management and CPS tools.
- Conduct system performance testing, RF coverage analysis, and diagnostics using tools such as GenWatch, LSVT, and coverage mapping software.
- Integrate LMR systems with IP networks, ISSI/CSSI gateways, encryption modules, and dispatch/recording solutions.
- Perform firmware and software upgrades, system patching, and network configuration updates.
- Support field maintenance, troubleshoot coverage/interference issues, and document technical baselines.
- Collaborate with program managers, system administrators, and federal stakeholders to maintain continuous operational readiness.
- Provide mentoring and training to field technicians and end users on LMR operation, programming, and troubleshooting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of experience working with Motorola LMR / P25 systems (ASTRO 25, GTR8000, MCC7500, GCP8000).
- Demonstrated expertise with subscriber programming and fleetmap management via Motorola Radio Management.
- Understanding of RF propagation, IP-based system integration, and encryption standards (AES/DES).
- Experience with ISSI/CSSI, network timing and synchronization, and redundant site configurations.
- Active DoD Secret clearance or DHS Tier 2 BI (or ability to obtain).
- Strong documentation, communication, and analytical skills.
Preferred
- Experience supporting federal or public safety communications systems (DHS, DOJ, DoD, state/local).
- Familiarity with L3Harris, EF Johnson, or Tait systems for interoperability analysis.
- Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (service monitors, spectrum analyzers, wattmeters, etc.).
