Job Description

Primary Location: Fort Bragg, North Carolina

Clearance: Secret clearance

Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking a System Administrator to provide technical support, system maintenance, cybersecurity compliance, and network management for military information systems and mission command platforms. The ideal candidate possesses foundational DoD-aligned certifications, hands-on experience with Microsoft Server and VMware environments, and proficiency with key Army/Joint mission command systems and security tools.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, virtual machines, and VMware vCenter infrastructures.
  • Implement system and network hardening techniques to ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
  • Manage Microsoft SharePoint sites, permissions, workflows, and content structure.
  • Support configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Joint/Army Mission Command systems (e.g., TAK, CPCE, SOF MC).
  • Use diagnostic tools to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system/server issues.
  • Configure and maintain network protocols including TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Monitor system performance and optimize servers, services, and virtual environments.
  • Support vulnerability management activities using ACAS/Nessus and remediate findings.
  • Maintain and operate DoD security tools such as AESS, Trellix, Microsoft Defender Endpoint, and other mandated platforms.
  • Implement file system configurations including NTFS, FAT, and EXT standards.
  • Ensure proper configuration and security of firewalls, DMZs, encryption technologies, and other IT security controls.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies within enterprise environments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, system diagrams, configuration baselines, and incident reports.
  • Provide technical support to users, troubleshoot issues, and escalate complex problems when necessary.
  • Support continuity of operations through regular system backups, recovery planning, and redundancy management.


Requirements

  • Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance required
  • Associate degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field OR equivalent military training


Special Skills/Qualifications Required:
  • Current certification meeting DCWF System Administrator (451) Basic proficiency requirements (Security+ CE or CySA+)
  • System administration and OS/network hardening
  • File system implementations (NTFS, FAT, EXT)
  • IT security principles (firewalls, DMZs, encryption)
  • Network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS)
  • Operating system command line operation
  • Diagnostic tools and fault identification
  • Virtualization technologies and VM management
  • System performance monitoring and optimization


Minimal Background/Experience Required:
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Server environments
  • Experience with VMware (vCenter) and SharePoint administration
  • Experience with Joint/Army Mission Command systems (TAK, CPCE, SOF MC)
  • Experience using ACAS, AESS, Trellix, Microsoft Defender Endpoint, and other DoD security tools
