The United States Space Force (USSF) 61st Force Support Squadron (61FSS) Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California is searching for a Community Readiness Specialist (NH-0101-02, GS-05 through GS-11 equivalent).
Description:
As the installation's Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) advocate, strategist, and non-medical case manager, you will play a vital, dynamic role in empowering military families with exceptional needs by seamlessly blending program management with compassionate, hands-on support. Daily responsibilities include conducting comprehensive family needs assessments, designing customized service plans, facilitating seamless relocations through warm hand-offs, and leading key collaboration efforts by chairing monthly integrated support meetings and coordinating complex case reviews alongside Medical (MTF) and Personnel (MPF) flights. Beyond direct casework, you will serve as an educator and community liaison by partnering with on- and off-base providers to close service gaps, leading disability rights workshops, driving targeted outreach, and dedicating up to 20% of your time to broader Military & Family Readiness (M&FRC) programs. To qualify for this highly organized, secure position, you must hold a Bachelor's degree in a social science field, possess two years of experience working with military families, demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of military family resources, exhibit strong administrative and workshop facilitation skills, and be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Work occasionally requires travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft as well as travel in the local area by motor vehicle.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays).
- Personal data to which the incumbent has access is controlled by the Privacy Act of 1974 and must be safeguarded appropriately.
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 30 days per year.
- This is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework.
